Hey guys, I'll be posting a WIP of this Dama and Zirc bali I'm making for an AUCTION on my Instagram (http://instagram.com/santiagoknives). I don't have all the auction info yet but I'll post all you need to know when the time has come, later this week to give you guys a ballpark. Until then enjoy the on going WIP.

    Marking the cuts
    [IMG]
I cut them in 2s for the surface grinder
    [IMG]
Reamed and ready for the hole pattern
    [IMG]

spot holes drilled to 1/8 and tapped. I like to tap the holes as early into the process as possible because of how easy it is to break taps. I use a #44 through hole and a #48 hole for the thread with 2-56 screws. It also helps to have a fixture when tapping.

    Holes to 3/16
    [IMG]
    Hogging the taper
    [IMG]
    Time to radius the ends
    [IMG]

The blade is drilled to 1/8, 11/64, then reamed undersized to .1865 then lapped to the pivots exact diameter. Each pivot is custom fit to its hole. All holes are drilled after I surface grind making sure everything is parallel.
Not sure if you guys know or not but I have a degree in graphic design and I use Illustrator to print out blade shapes. I mostly just use the tang area for a guide to fit the zen pins. Most of the time I'll cut the blade profile off after the tang is fitted and draw it on. No 2 blades are exactly alike because of this.
the blade and handles are roughly profiled and I'll be fine tuning the tang are now. Spacers are also ready to be profiled. I don't really touch the latch until the end of fitting.

shaping the ears with a little jig
    [IMG]
they clear on to the tangs
    [IMG]
still very rough but I'm too tired for the final fit
    [IMG]
    handles are also fully profiled
    [IMG]

I'll also be using AKS pivots from now on. They are press fit and have a 6-64 thread instead of the normal 6-32. The higher thread count allows the user to finely adjust the pivot with greater sensitivity to the pressure making the perfect fit.
    6-32 left, 6-64 right
    [IMG]

The entire shop. Not much but it gets the job done.

I also found a stray cat outside, looks like I have a new shop cat!

    Should be epic.

Auctions are one way to do things for sure, any chance that you will do a few and just post them up for sale?
