I've been working on my balisong design, and I'm getting close to getting some finished. The specs are-
Channel construction titanium .540 thick rounded handles
    3/16 pivots
    9.6-9.7" total leghth
    5.6" closed
    4.5 oz
    Split handle latch
I hope to have several finished soon and will post pictures soon.

It's a design my buddy Rod Rugur designed for me years ago, it locks in the handle and not on the outside edge. I'll get a picture up of my cad.

    something like this?
    http://www.bladehq.com/item--Nathan-Dewey-Custom-Gremlin-Mini--24821

I call it a recessed latch, I think I saw it first on a Guinn or Cardoso.
It's a nice concept when you want to make a shorter bali more comfortable to hold.

Okay not to trail off topic but what are the benefits and what are the downfalls of that type of latch?

    pro:
more compact for ergonomics. If it stops at a right angle you can round the opposite handle end so it skips and not get stuck. Then you have a skip latch.

    con:
none really as long as the notch is well pronounced so the pin catches.

Bushings in a channel design are going to be a challenge.

A pivot will most likely not work, you will have to use a standoff with two torx screws at each end to facilitate the tuning. A pivot without an enlarged lip will spin in the hole, and a pivot with a lip will be a royal pain to remove (ie. BM42).

Those sandwich parts are from when I was making them five years ago, I started back on building them a couple months ago and decided to go with a channel instead

Beautiful that blade and your renderings look really wonderful. Those horns look like they might pinch though.

Again, what a beautiful blade, that damascus and the blade shape are fantastic.
