Uh oh. Just noticed the sheath is facing the wrong way. It should be a right hand pull from the left rear.

the tape creates some small space betwen the knife and kydex so it don`t get scratched if dirt or other particles gets in there, it also helps with sheathing the knife, the AL tape is a tad thicker than painters tape, the leather tip cover comes with the knife...i figure with my luck... i`d better use it :unintroduced:

The leather tip is just to keep the B-III from poking out of box during shipment. I think the sheath will go great with that blaze orange. B-III's are so awesome!

no tmuch progress h but here some more pics...
when i pressed the CF i also added a piece of black kydex (over the CF)and got a half mold, that i could use to drill the eyelet holes on it first, and if i mess up, the sheath is still good :unintroduced:
also i can use it later if i got more sheaths to do for the Bravo III, as a template:

here it is with some "mapping"(?)

    drilling the eyelet holes:

almost done...the last 2 holes are done with a pencil

started working on a bracket..i will be using a design by DorsetWoodlandBlades(with permission )

    Thank you for posting/ sharing.

I love seeing and learning about this kind of stuff.
Thanks for taking the time to take pics, post and share ten with us.

Question; in the one press shot, there seems to be quite a bit of extra left along the outside perimeter. I do realize that this allows you ample room for your seems and where the eyelets go, but I was curious :Is there always that much material wasted in the making of every sheath?
Or was that one example a little 'different' because you were:
-first time fitting this model, so left extra to be sure.

    Or

    - making your template and so wanted plenty of overlap.

always cut bigger than you need and
there are few reasons for that, it allows you room to work and also because kydex shrinks in one direction and elongates at the other(for example you can cut a 4x5 and after heating you may end up with a 3x6 piece...orange kydex is the worst in this)the other day i forgot a CF piece in the oven that i was going to make a PAB sheath and when i took it out it was so sort that i end up making it a Kimura sheath :unintroduced:

Ok-please allow me to display my ignorance even further, sir.

This.."shrinkage" or 'movement' ...is it predictable? For example, when I woodwork, the movement is somewhat predictable in that depending on grain you get roughly guesstimate what areas will be prone to movement...does some form of this also apply here? Meaning: the kydex that has patterns (like the CF looking ones) , does it consistently move in the same directions of "grain " to that kydex's pattern? Or is it really more ..shape and/or dependent on other factors like heat/time exposed TO heat, etc..

If this is an utterly ignorant question, I apologize.

no problem i had to learn through trial and error and from alot of Google fu :unintroduced:
It is predictable, that`s why it`s wise when getting a new sheet to work with, you cut your first piece bigger than usually cut the piece for the sheath you want to make, then you see which way it shrinks and you cut the rest of the piece accordingly
the best way i have seen it explained is here:

    Cool.

Ill check the link out, thanks!

That orange really makes it pop... Adds some nice contrast.
Very sharp looking. That CF kydex is sweet looking!
