Hello all. I've got a brand new Kimura V coming in the mail (my first Bali) and needless to say, I am eagerly awaiting its arrival. What are some tricks I should start with? I am not afraid of getting cut (I love playing Five Finger Fillet and such). Cheers guys!:bwah:

My other question was: How many of you actually carry your balisong on you in public and if you do, where do you live and has it caused you any trouble?

I actually would love to carry my 51 around the streets, but because im a really big pussy, Im afraid that the police would take my bali away. :ropeman:

Either way, if you live in a place were its completely legal to carry, and the policemen aren't big assholes, I would suggest to carry it everywhere you can.:devilfinger:

I carry my 51 with me everywhere I go in Vegas. No trouble yet.

Hell, the other day a friend of mine got a coin stuck in the slot of a machine in a casino, flipped the 51 open, got the coin unjammed and no one said a word.

I have been looking at Calvin's flipping tutorials linked here:
    http://www.jerzeedevil.com/forums/showthread.php/98178-Flipping-Tutorials?
Great stuff, and easy to follow. I plan to check out the others eventually.

Coincidentally, I have a Kimura 6 coming to me (my 3rd bali). Looking forward to it!

As far as carrying, I live in PA (bali is legal) and carry a bali often, usually a BM 51. However, when I use a knife in public, it is not usually a balisong. I typically have a SAK or traditional knife that is more likely to be used in public.

I carry my balisong with me all the time in Arizona, and it hasn't caused my any troubles yet. If you aren't sure of the laws pertaining to knives in your area, you can always do a quick search on google! If it doesn't show up with any results, you're probably just fine with carrying it around. Though flipping it in public might be a different story...

also, as a testiment that you'll be getting cut a lot, I've cut myself around 6 times trying to learn how to do the y2k rollover :ross:

I hate this type of reply, come on Glenn.

Even you were a noobtard once. People complain when others bump posts then there is this school of thought. I being forum Administrator/ owner prefer both. Bumping threads as well as starting new ones. Be happy!

    BAHHH Humbug. :bwah:

In Florida, open carry not a concealed weapon less a permit. Laws are still sketchy about what a knife is away from a "tool" when in pocket must be a small slip-joint type knife.

Give me something with a pocket clip.

My EDC is a BM 31 as utility.

Kick around flipper, my AB or Tach 2.

Tricks, forgot about them,:manganr: I'm still a beginner.

    Better ?

I carry where ever I go.

All the Police I know have a thing called "the attitude test" :jdwink2:. If you pass 9/10 no problems.... but if you are a dick I wouldn't advise carrying in public whether its legal or not.

You let me flip your AB while standing next to you while i'm a mile high, with no shoes on :manganr::smokin:

on topic. i learned a lot of my beginner tricks from cutlerylover on youtube. also Calvinnation and bitehandle have great tutorials

ive also learned a few beginner moves from balisong-xtreme.com
Has a nice list of things to learn and also has some vids and animations to make things easier

im still pretty new to flipping, what helped me is pick one or two tricks and just practice nothing but that for a few days or weeks till u can do them in your sleep then move on to another.

you will get cut. just stock up on band aids, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, supper glue, tourniquet's. ect. what ever suits you

If you wanna edc your bali and are worried just check your local laws. i just dont care so i carry mine anyway. just be smart about it. i dont really flip in public places but i do use it for work now and then, either the bali or my paramilitary 2.

I EDC my 51 almost everyday(it's illegal in Texas). I just don't take it out in public and try not to draw attention to myself. I prob won't ever carry my AB just out of the fear of it being confiscated and it's not as replaceable as a 51.

i edc a kimura 4 at work and anywhere i may go,as far as using it in public, i do it all the time. sometimes the way you open and close your knife could determine weather people even notice its a balisong

Bali's are legal for carry here in Maryland. I go back and forth between my 51 and 42 for EDC carry. Sometimes I carry one of my Jaguars if Im feeling old school.

"I EDC my 51 almost everyday(it's illegal in Texas)"

I thought almost nothing was illegal in Texas??

Im from Mass, and they suck with knife laws. I usually edc a mini grip or something. Keep it as least threatening as possible. I try to stay out of trouble anyways so the knife in my pocket shouldnt be in question; but if they took away one of my bali's I would be pissed, so why risk it...
