You oil the blade and the tang area, and then you oil it some more, and oil it, and oil it. Done!

I have had no issues with mine. As Heda said, OIL.

for reference, my HOM Bas R (s35VN) elite has some surface rust on the edge from where I was keeping them stored. The AA developed no new rust in the same environment. Cant say the same for my JK with Vegas Forge Damascus, it too has some surface rust. BUT the AA looks the same as when I got it. I keep her nice a lubed.

The main part of the recipe is to flip it every so often. When they become depressed they are at a higher risk of rusting. Its science.

ANDDDD now that I think about it, the HOM may have had something left on the edge when put away.

If you don't know how to oil the blade then just deep fry it..... nice and consistent oiling, make sure you get a crisp aa on both sides -_-
Or Gordon Ramsey will come for ya

If all ya wanna do is prevent rust, you can use any oil, from mineral oil to whale oil (if you can find it!).

I've recently started using synthetic motor oil, like MobilOne. It's MUCH cheaper than gun, or those fancy knife, oils and does a very good job for lubrication and/or rust prevention.

A quart will last you, probably, the rest of your life.

I've also had friends that use standard 30SAE motor oil with good results, and that's even cheaper.
