I don't know very much about steel and pins, but I've become more and more interested in the bayonet and tanto blade shapes.

this is so true. those damn graphs are misleading. i honestly dont like cpm-s30v at all.

a YouTube video will show sXXv cut like, say 1000 ropes before it dulls. then only 500 ropes with lets just say, d2. so then we are told sXXv is twice as good as d2.

if only it were that simple. i have never needed to cut a thousand ropes. i cut a few at work a day max.

what actually happens is you use the knife like a regular person and alls it takes is to cut into a staple, pebble, bone etc, now there is a tiny bad spot on the edge rather it is cpm-s30vn or d2.

the difference is i can freehand the d2 back smooth, no problem. the sXXv, it will take me more work and probably not get it back quite as sharp.

but if i were cutting a thousand ropes, i guess sXXv would make more sense.

Blade steel? Hm. Have only owned D2 (46/51) bali's so can't really comment on anything other than D2 is fine by me. Edit : From flipping and edc perspective is suits my cuttin' needs fine.

    Blade shape? Spearpoint

Blade length? 4.25-4.5in/Lil longer than 4x series overall would be nice.

    Handle material? Ti works.

Holes, slots, other? Ehhhh depends. And as long as it doesn't hinder flipping I could care less.

Pins (tang/zen/other) Tang. Helps with zen-styled moves alot more.
