I started driving for Lyft and Uber about a month ago. I traded in my beloved Jeep Rubicon for an Acura MDX (first non-Jeep in 29 years.
I drove tonight with the belief that it would be busy since tomorrow (scratch that, it's later than I thought) is a holiday. Wrong. It was, however, a very interesting day. I picked up a guy named Aaron. On the way to his machine shop we discussed lots, but it turned to guns, then knives. We threw out Barry Dawson's name, then Lynn's...that's when he asked if I had ever heard of Severtech. Yeppers, that Aaron.
He gave me a quick tour and told me about the new Severtech...which isn't him. I saw a couple of unique models that were incredible...like a Wharnie.
Anyhow, I had left the app on and got another ride request.
At about 11:30, while making a left turn, a little furrin car t-boned the Acura. I think it's totalled.
    What a day.

Take it as a sign from above . . . NEVER work on the holidays!

Happy Fourth of July everyone. Enjoy some fireworks, BBQ and/or alcohol.
And think a bit about the sacrifices others made for your freedoms.

Glad to hear you are ok. A coworker got me into that a couple of years ago when she told me she made $700 or so working the 4th of July for Lyft that year. I got my SUV inspected and off I went working for Lyft. I worked on New Years Eve that same year and made about $250. After taking my local watering hole's bartenders home later in the night off the app, they asked how my night went, which I told them. Then my friend asks, "your coworker got big tits?" I fucking cracked up. "why yes she does" I replied. I wrecked my SUV shortly there after while driving to my normal job, then bought a piece of crap Suzuki Aerio to teach myself a lesson.

I think you should take the Acura back and trade it in for your old Jeep?! ;) Seriously, as much as it all sucks a vehicle is replaceable, but a life is not. I hope you aren't too banged up and sore, but thankful your alive to tell us! Next time knives and guns are a topic turn off the app! ;) All the best with your car!

Sorry about the car, glad you are alright. Interesting to hear that Severtech is still cranking out knives. I sharpened an original Spartan a while back, that thing was beat to hell, but it still kicked like a horse and had zero blade play.

Thank you all for you good thoughts; all fixed up and back to work.

My best night, so far, has been $295 a couple of times.

The extra cash came in handy when Misiu needed chemo. The chemo worked, so now I can replace the laptop that I fried.

I think I'll keep the Acura; I'm still having fun. I'm in the process of starting an LLC to help with taxes. Who knows, once the Acura is paid off, I'll need to decide on another Jeep or getting back into motorcycling.
