Benchmade H&K 14905BT for $109.99 shipped. This knife isn't much of a looker in my opinion, but it's a outstanding heavy-duty user with a thick 154CM blade, G10/Scales over stainless liners, and Auto-Axis lock. These have been discontinued for several years and the plain edge version was somewhat rare when they were still being manufactured and $150 was an exceptionally good deal at that time.

Is the seller correct on how the blade was mirrored black? I thought that was just a boron carbide or tungsten carbide over a mirror polished blade. But he is saying something about "flaming the ats-34 in the presence of a proprietary gaseous material".

I don't know if he's right on how they did it.
    But it is special.
I have a same era black coated Brend/White Wolf.
The blade is no where near as shiny.

Yeah, that's the first I've heard of the "flaming the ATS-34" and all.

Walter just said they found a way to "blue" the HP blade, whatever that means...

Shown with a Brend HP L-UDT:

Well one thing is for sure. Those are some beautiful knives. And with the apparent quality I find it surprising they didnt stick around.

WhiteWolf Knives were ahead of their game for sure, for awhile anyway.

Jim Ray, the owner decided to move on to head MOD (Masters of Defense) Knives.
He sold Whitewolf to his shop foreman, Buck Woodard to continue it as *Woodard Knives*.

Buck had pretty good talent in his own right, and hand ground many of the nicer version Woodards (FerdeLance, Combat Auto, Pocket Pro) that the company produced.

When I handed Walter Brend a pair of Custom/HG FdL's to look at, he commented on how nice Buck's grinds were.
It should be noted that Walter never ground any "Woodards" for Buck's company. He only ground for WhiteWolf and Jim Ray.
There's a lot of confusion dealing with the two companies and their knives, especially with the like W/K Logos and some Woodards using up some old WhiteWolf parts.

Unfortunately Buck and Woodard Knives suffered some hard times, and Jim Ray's health failed after MOD got sold to Blackhawk.

End of the line for any more knives from their hands. At least that's how I've come to understand the history...

ETA: Below are the two Custom/HG Woodard FerdeLances . These were HG by Buck Woodard. Really sweet Autos with perfect fit/finish:
