"Paul" (2011) stars Simon Pegg ("Shawn Of The Dead"), and Nick Frost

Hilarious Sci-Fi - comedy in which two British comic-book nerds come to the US to experience ComicCon, and travel around the Southwest in a rented motorhome. Near Area 51, they witness a car crash, and rescue an Extra-Terrestrial (the voice of Seth Rogen) named Paul, who has just escaped after 50 years of confinement. The Brits decide to take Paul along with them, and hilarity ensues.

This is some funny shit, check it out if you get the chance !

    "Growing Up Smith" (2017)

A totally charming little comedy in which a 10 year-old boy named Smith finds himself and his family transplanted from India to Small-Town America in the late 1970s. They try to adopt American culture, while the strict father does his best to keep the traditional Indian discipline and values intact. Good stuff here, two snaps up !

A sort of "small film" that I just saw for the first time....

"Everything Is Illuminated" (2005) (stars Elijah Wood)
This film turned out far better than I had originally expected. A young man (Wood) journeys to Russia, to seek out a woman who saved his Grandfather from being executed by the Nazis many years ago. His quest is extremely enlightening, not only to himself, but to several other Russians who help him along the way.

    Another winner...

"Danny Collins" (2015) Al Pacino, Annette Benning, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Garner, and Christopher Plummer star

Pacino is Danny, a fading Rock star, whose life takes a drastic turn when he discovers that the late John Lennon wrote him a personal letter back in 1971, and he is just now receiving it.This generates a moment of clarity within him, and he decides to re-establish contact with Tom, his long-estranged son (Cannevale). The choice of script, cast, and acting all impart a wonderful balance here, and the use of Lennon`s music throughout the soundtrack add to it`s cohesiveness. This is a good movie. A VERY good movie....

"Sicario: Day of the Soldado" (2018) Josh Brolin, Benecio Del Toro, Isabel Moner

Well, no one can accuse these Sicario films of lacking drama and intensity, they are all serious business....

After a group of serial bombers kill 15 people in a Kansas City grocery store attack, the Government retaliates by enlisting veteran CIA agent Matt Graver (Brolin) to go after the Mexican cartels believed to be responsible for smuggling terrorists into the US. Matt devises a plan to make it look like the cartels are going to war with each other, part of which involves the kidnaping of the teenage daughter of a cartel boss.
The DEA, headed by Matt, stages a phony rescue of the girl, but their Mexican Police escorts double-cross them along the way, forcing Matt`s team to kill several dozen Federales.
Del Toro plays the mysterious Alejandro, a shadowy operative who works solo on the Mexican side of the border.
This is some heavy shit, probably fairly close to the way it goes down in real life....

"American Made" (2017) Tom Cruise, Jesse Plemons, Domhnall Gleeson, Susan Wright

A (sort of) true story (more or less), about the exploits of Barry Seal (Cruise), a run-of-the-mill commercial pilot for TWA, who one fine day in 1979, runs into a rather clandestine young gent who recruits Barry into the CIA. He is given a very fast and maneuverable twin-engine plane, and is sent off on missions all around Central and South America, as basically a bag man for the CIA. He soon becomes known around all "the right circles" in these banana republics, and is soon offered a "side job" flying big bundles of coke for the Columbian cartel. After hearing the going rate for his services ($2 grand per kilo), he accepts, and is soon swimming in money, and carrying suitcases full of it to his local bank.
When the CIA gets the idea to start arming the Contras, they also have Barry flying guns, which he is soon diverting half of to his Columbian connections.
But, as they say, "All good things must come to an end", and the shit does hit the proverbial fan when various agencies start closing in on Barry, investigating little things, like why his local bank in the middle of Arkansas is all of a sudden holding more cash than any bank in the southern US.
While sort of predictable, the film actually does hold your interest, and is quite entertaining.

"Ender`s Game" (2013) Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Harrison Ford

What we have here is a very slick and creative Sci-Fi adventure.
The timeframe: Some time in the future. Earth has been invaded by the Formics, large, insect-like creatures. These alien creatures defeated Earthlings for a while, until a skilled young soldier (Kingsley) figured a way to drive them away. But, that was 50 years in the past, current-day military commanders know that a new attack will come at any time. So, they test all young children to see which ones have the best aptitude for war, then send the chosen ones to Battle School. Ender Wiggins, a bright 15-ish student, is one who excels at every task. The school`s commander, Col. Graff (Ford) sees Ender as "the Saviour" among these young recruits, and pushes the boy as hard as possible to develop his skills.
Ender turns out to be an incredibly effective tactician, as well as a natural-born leader, also displaying great empathy for his recently-defeated foes.
I liked everything about this film....

the bill murray stories on Netflix is pretty awesome. it is about how bill murray uses his celebrity to insert himself into ordinary people's lives ie. standing behind someone in the restroom and covering their eyes and whispering in their ear nobody is going to believe you.

    "Cut Bank" (2015)
This is one of those "small films" that often flies under the radar for most of the general public. It takes place in the tiny burg of Cut Bank, Montana ("The Coldest Place In The US"), where a young couple dreams of escaping the boring existence they must endure. After accidentally witnessing and filming an apparent murder, the young man decides to use his video to claim a big reward. But, all is not what it seems, and there are many twists and turns before him. There`s a great cast at work here, with Liam Hemsworth and Teresa Palmer as the couple, and John Malkovich, Billy Bob Thornton, and Bruce Dern in strong supporting roles. Definitely worth watching.

    "Carlito`s Way" (1993)

Another home run from Al Pacino. In this engaging crime drama, he plays Carlito Brigante, a former drug dealer, released early from a long prison sentence due to the efforts of his shady lawyer, Davey Kleinfeld (Sean Penn). Carlito has vowed to stay on the straight and narrow, but he soon feels a strong pull back towards The Life. Penelope Ann Miller plays Gail, Carlito`s girlfriend, and veteran bad guy Luis Guzman is "Pachanga", his main boy. John Leguizamo does a nice turn as "Benny Blanco, from The Bronx". Set in the late 1970s, the film captures the whole Disco era quite accurately.
