$210?!?!?! Fuck no!!! Hard pass. Medium pass. Long pass. Short pass. Hand to (insert name of higher being), in my head I was estimating $80 to $120...and still on the fence if it was that price.

    ***G10 Kimura...cheaper and better

latch might be better on the kimura =b

g10 smallflies seem like cousins of the 51 / 32 family, but with bushings, better blade steel, and a lower cost...

how do you feel about the benchmade g10 balis?

spyderco prob should have tried to fix the latch so it could latch in both positions. from pics it looks like it still wont latch open.

Benchmade G10 balis...BM51? One of the greatest knife ever. Bought two of them when they were $180. I still flip and use them...literally. Haven't bought another one since it went above $200. It isn't worth what they are selling for right now. That's true of almost any production balisong right now.

I've said this for years now...this community is being taken advantage. That's why it bothers me whenever somebody says "$400 is a great price".

***Soon production bali prices = custom prices

If I remember right spyderco is or was produced out in Colorado where legal/law issues prevented spyderco from producing balis that latched open

i carry my bali to flip and another knife for cutting tasks

if i carried it as edc i would like it latchable so its better and more solid for cutting apples and deers

Good point nor have I... But if it's true but I highly doubt the bureaucrats in Colorado understand how balisongs work and just as you pointed out don't have to be latched to be effective open

Its a small bali and light.

The original was awesomely balanced and flipped great.. but I wouldn't recommend to someone who wanted to start flipping because its too light and you need skills to make it work.

If the new smallfly handles anything like the old, its probably more suited as an EDC.

So, if you like the blade profile and you're looking for a small EDC then go for it.

Do you think I could force myself to learn with it being too light or would the be a problem for a beginner? I’ve seen where others complain about some of the lower end options being to heavy in the handles and hurting their hands.

If you want to keep the price down and still get a great blade and a great flipper to learn on then get a barebones.

It looks like it has more blade to it than the original, so more weight up front. I'd be surprised if it flips any better.

For a beginner I'd recommend a Squid - Krake Raken (if you can find one).

Barebones is also another option but they're a lot heavier and sharp af.

    Flipping/EDC , then the BM51 is a good option.

Otherwise, just bute the bullet an get a Rep or AB

I can attest to the sharpness of a barebones. I came close to loosing three fingertips at once the first week I had mine. Keep it taped up until you get used to it.

The weight had never bothered me because it is so well balanced.
