Round 2. I dont know. Last time it was in the solution for 15min. This time I left it in for 10. Very different results. I did filter the old solution and top off with the tiny bit I had left. It was nasty. This second go, it looks even nastier.

Made a kick stand to keep the blade vertical. Just made sense when the first try gave me very different results on each side.

Added a plate to hopefully distribute the heat better. Shit started popping and splashing when things got up to temp of 180. 20200413_125011_copy_1024x1365.jpg

Nasty...don't think I'll bother trying to reuse it. Kind of a pricey experiment I guess.

Have I mentioned I dont really like dealing with chemicals. There aren't any skulls and crossbones on anything, still dont like it.

I think this will end up pretty good. It's way smoother. I could see a bit of a line along the edge. Maybe from heat treating, showed with the parkerizing process. Hell if I know.

I'm pretty damn happy with it. Needs to be sharpened and a sheath and this thing will be done. 20200413_144237_copy_768x1024.jpg

Waiting on felt and final makers mark. Making adjustments so that it comes out well on the stencils. Never knew how difficult the whole makers mark thing was. Then the stencil guys asks what size, hell I dont know Haha.

Good news, I found a use for some of those stickers that everyone sends now. I need an ac/dc sticker. Maybe I can go all ransom letter like and cut letters out of stickers.

Cool i also fly rc racing drones with my son and built a few small toothpick drones
Knife looks awesome sean power supply too not sure what you need ac for tho. What voltage 24v what are you using to turn ac to dc a bridge rectifier? i also work on home ac units and built my heat treat oven and electric still. Now you got to make it variable voltage for annodizing ti

Those racing drones look badass. Crazy fast.

Google said one was for deep etching and the other was for darkening. There is a bridge rectifier in the box. I'll do some experiments and see what happens.

And thanks Jason. I think it's the best blade I've made.

It will have a couple slots to attach to molle as well. Then with the eyelets you could tie it anywhere.

Yes. I love the hell out of thick dark ales, stouts, & porters. A rare find in these parts being surrounded by bud light and natty territory.

Oh and kick ass sketch to lol.

Of my own completed start to finish projects, only 2 things have ever been sent out. The coin knife for the benefit raffle and the fixed blade with the pocket sheath.

Both had lots of flaws. It's truly a bit nerve racking to send something out. Not only that, but I love the stuff that I make, so it's hard to get rid of anything.

Anyhow, i recieved this message this morning. Not really something exciting or big for you guys, but for me...pretty damn cool.

"Man it is amazing! I carry it daily. It replaced my protech strider. The edge is holding up great! The retention is perfect. The only thing i would change is for it to sit an inch and a half deeper in the pocket, but that is no biggy. Thanks, thanks, thanks!!!!"

Feedback is so important, positive or negative. I really appreciate it.

Putting up some security cameras at the shop today.

    Have a good weekend Devils
