    And.....fail.

Followed the contour of the handle when I made the sheath. Obviously, you cant squeeze the larger part of the handle through a smaller part of the sheath. Will they again this weekend. Dumb mistake.

Wife broke a pendant I got her a long time ago while on a trip. Some handmade piece out of glass. She was upset. So, I cut into some fordite I had in the shop. I kept the basic shape of the original pendant.

First time really messing with this stuff. I enjoy it a lot. Pretty interesting. I added a carbon fiber tube (cut off from some arrows I had made years ago) since I'm not really sure how strong the stuff is.

She is an art teacher, seems fitting.

What do you guys think about fordite?

    Sheath making tomorrow.

    That would make awesome handles.
You might be able to cut the top threads of the sheath and freeze fit the knife to the sheath.

wet the section of the sheath the handle goes into, then push the handle in while the leather is wet.
let it set overnight minimum before pulling the knife out (be carefull)

    Thanks Matt.

I soaked the hell out of it. I stitched in the wrong spot. There was no fitting it in there. In fact, I noticed last night that I damaged the scales trying to force it in. I have a new pattern ready to be glued up.

    Good practice run i guess.

Roger. I wrapped that fucker up pretty good but also coated in heavily with oil before hand.

I also learned my clamps that I've used for everything leave black stains on ....everything. saw a picture this weekend of someone using some binder clip thingys. I'll use those this time with some protective scraps. Then I wont have to dye it black when I want it natural.

Appreciate all the input fellas. Keep it coming.

So you know the talent level that advises and admires... KXNK5018.JPEG

This is the first kit knife that I "assembled". I flame colored it, reground it and basically did everything wrong that you can do to a knife all in about a 1 month period.

I love this. Thanks for sharing. Your a step above me, I've never attempted a bolster. I'll have to search for picture thread of people's 1st knife attempts.

My trench knife I'd say was my first. I had completed a few blanks and have few in progress blanks. I have one forged knife that I made the blank during a class. I'll put some pictures up of it.

I found some old sketches and notes I'll post a couple pictures of tomorrow. Cracked myself up when I found them.

Anyway. Got a couple sheaths in progress. Guess I didnt take any pictures of the filet knife sheath. Heres the start of the other one. 20200201_142454_copy_1024x768.jpg

Heres the sheaths and the notes I mentioned. Those are probably about 9 years old.
