I need to get going on this. So I grabbed a few of these blades in thought of using it for last years build off. Plans changed.

So this is where I'm at.....

If the grim reaper uses one its good enough for Halloween i think. I have a few ideas, nothing drawn up and nothing set in stone. We will see where it goes!

Initial plan was to straighten that tang out and weld to it for the handle. Decided to leave it as a guard.

I did a bit of straightening. Rather odd because of the shape, but it's not bad now.
I was going to grind this whole blade down and make it nice. After taking a wire wheel to it, I dig the pitted look. Fits it i think.

Found this red stag tine in a box. Its going on the butt. Not settled on how the rest of the layout will go.

    Little bit of progress

Was going to trim both blocks and have a little more center section, but it was so damn close that I selfishly halved one and kept the second block.

Goal is to have it all made up and ready to sculpt when I get back.

Got all the spacers glued up yesterday. Had to add some black and red. Was a bit of a shit show stacking so many thin pieces together with epoxy at one time. They like to go wherever they want.

Here's where I'm at. Was thinking I should just round the rest of the tang and thread it. Then thread the final brass piece. Glue and tighten that brass down. Then I'll drill, glue and pin the tine on.

    Any thoughts on that?

Done for today. Hitting the road tomorrow.

Decided not to thread the brass. Just used it as a large washer. The nut will be hidden in the antler tine.

Excited to grind into this thing when I get back.

I did grind the end of the tine so it sits properly. Its been a long time since I have ground any horn or antler. I forgot about that amazing smell.
