Thank you amazon and USA knife maker. All holes are tapped.

    Are those three screws enough?

Dam i hate when that happens is that ti or steel. Got to get yourself a self reversing tap head i have one from shars but there is the better tapmatic head but costs more. If thats ti put the peice in some ferric chloride till the broken tap gets eaten away(several days)

Neither. Soft ass brass Haha. It's a blind hole and I was trying to get every bit of it.

Self reversing tap head has my interest. That go in a drill press or mill? I can look it up. Thanks for the tips.

Also tapping fluid castrol c moly dee (variocut)
There are also thread forming taps that work well
And might drill the hole bigger maybe for steel instead of the brass rated hole for that thread i dont know just a thought

So I woke to realizing I may have a serious flaw. I went through the effort of making the three extra holes for screws for aesthetic reasons. Once I mill out the inside for the blade, I'm not sure there will be any threads left. We will see. I may have to fill these holes.

I like having a spare. I also like that I can take pictures of what's happening on both sides with one picture. But it also means I'll probably make the same mistake twice. Damn.

If it's just aesthetics, maybe you can epoxy the cutoff screw heads in the shallow holes.... jus' sayin'.... :manganr:

Well, rough day and im down to one. Damn it.

I was transferring undersized blind holes for the pivots. I have not done this before. I took some pin stock and made a very small pointed pin. It transferred very well. Then I tried to get it out. No dice. Tried and tried. Then ended up drilling it. Luckily everything came out well.

So for the second one I figured, just leave the pin a little bit longer. It got stuck, still couldnt pull it out. Drilled it out, but it got off center. The bit for the pivot would not stay in the center. So that one is now scrap. So much for having two.

Thinking about it now, I should have tapered the bottom of the pins maybe. That way its sitting better in the bottom of the hole? I'm calling it. Hopefully tomorrow goes better.

All I have for today is basically one ruined piece and the spring cut into the case with rough pivot holes.

Heres the pin I used. If anyone has suggestions let me know. I still need to drill and transfer the stop pin and button holes.

Successfully transferred the blade stop hole.....thankfully! I did taper the pin and sprayed some WD40 in there.

Everything is fitting together. Was hoping to mill out the blade channel today. Just not going to happen. Seems like such a small amount of progress. Anyone experienced would probably be laughing at me. Oh well.

Leaving tomorrow for a few weeks.

    Heres where I'm at

At this point it time, it should be obvious that he doesn't have any idea what he's doing either! :lulz:

I think that I'm beginning to see a teeensie bit what's going on. If I'm right, it'll be a good'un. We'll see.... :manganr:

Haha. Well, there is an idea I promise. Just not always sure how to get there, ......like usual. I thought about starting with a drawing, but I'll just let it take shape for you guys.

As much as I'd like to disagree with @crogers, hes not to far off damn it. (For once)

I did ask a fellow devil about a couple of my steps that I struggled with. Basically he very kindly suggested a template. I interpreted it as...."you moron! Haha. Why not just use a template, it would be way easier haha". Again, he was very kind. Very generous when people with more experience give advice. I appreciate it. Next time, template for sure.

Not as much progress as I had hoped. I have so much I need to learn! 20190929_135000-768x1024.jpg 20190929_135019-768x1024.jpg 20190929_152314-1024x768.jpg 20190928_134123-768x1024.jpg 20190928_140620-768x1024.jpg

I am having issues with the release button. Not sure how to make it work. I see how its supposed to work. Will have to do some research tonight. That's all thats holding me up from making this thing round.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Well I'm struggling with the button release. As I suspected, the spring and button together are just to long. I've counterbored the brass as much as I'd like...just not enough movement.

    Any thoughts?

I have only messed around with those button locks a couple times with no luck but i think you got to go to the other scale counter sunk with that thin part of the button lock inbetween the blade and chanel were it can move. Dought that makes any sense tho IMG_20191012_134606.jpg locks on the back side when spring pushes it up
