Goober - The Event is for the folks that want to attend - We lose money on it. it is not a profit making event.

It is not about the Money.

It is about making knives - having Fun with our brothers and sisters.

The event and it's schedule are already posted here on JD and have been for years.

    The event is September 7 - 8 & 9 2012.

That is a Friday - Saturday & Sunday.

You arrive Friday and we have a meet and greet Friday Night at the Plant.

The Friday night Event has Food and Soft drinks and some people bring Beer - Wine and Hard Liquor.

After we eat there is usually a heavy fog of cigar Smoke too.

You return on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM and you fill out Your paperwork and receive a makers kit.

The kit has a Mask - A Black Sharpie and a Bar of Steel.

You then draw your knife on the Bar of steel and we help you make that knife - that Day.

We serve Lunch at Noon right at the plant.

You will be finished by 5PM.

All of the knives are then taken over to the Terrace Bay Inn for our Saturday Evening Banquet . Before the Banquet starts the makers themselves vote on the top knives and we give out awards.

Returning Sunday is Optional - If you do you can make another knife.

We usually Wrap up the Sunday stuff by about 1Pm in the Afternoon.

Cost is $175.00 for Your first knife with any kind of Micarta or g-10 handle. You can upgrade to a fancy wood or bone or horn but that is a bit more money.

The $175.00 includes the Friday evening Meal and Saturday Lunch.

The Banquet is $30.00 per person and that includes Desert and the tip. (You Buy Your Own Liquor)

We recommend that you stay at the Terrace Bay Inn in Gladstone because the Banquet is there and you can drink all you want and walk to your Room. The police here stop everyone for Possible DUI and Gleefully will put you in Jail until Monday Morning. so I Hope that is enough said on that subject.

Crystal will call the Inn on Monday and make sure that there is a Block of Rooms reserved.

Flying into Escanaba Mi is recommended and we will pick you up from the Airport. You can rent a Car but they only have one so whoever gets it first is it.

    Aldo got it last year.

If you fly into the next Closest large Airport it will be Green Bay Wisconsin and you Will have to Rent a Car - it is just over a 2 hour Drive to Escanaba from Green Bay.

if you fly directly here it is much easier.

It is a very small town so you will not need a Car anyway - There will be a lot of us here to help shuttle people back and forth between the Hotel and the Plant and the Liquor Store.

Driving here is easy - it is straight up the 41 - the Plant is one mile off the 41 and the Terrace Bay Inn is on the 41.

We just ask that you let us know as soon as possible if you are coming.

You do not send any money in advance. You will pay sometime on Saturday.

Call 906-789-1801 to let Crystal know if you are coming.

Info for the Terrace Bay inn is as follows:

    Phone 1 (906) 786-7554
    Email--- terracebay@terracebay.com
    Website http://www.terracebay.com

Any other Questions please feel free to ask or call Crystal and she can answer anything too.

This information is also on the JD grind-in Facebook Group - HERE

    Done , done and done.:jdwink2::thumbsup:
If you haven't experienced one of these events , you really ought to .
    Really really ought to.
You will come away with a nice knife that you made your self ( with the help of some bona fide experts ) and you will have more laughs than a barrel full of monkeys who are stoned on pot and telling ethnic jokes.
Trust me.........that's a lot of laughs.

You will NOT regret coming to a Grind-In. You will meet great people (and leave Sunday as friends with those same people). It's pretty cool to put faces (and REAL names) to the names here on Jerzee Devil.

If you can think up a knife design, the Bark River guys will help you make it happen. If DaBird and I could make knives we are proud of, I know anybody can.

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make it this year, but will be back as often as I can. And I will be trying to figure out a way right up to the point of no return (and probably longer) on this one.

All I'm going to say is that I hope everyone books a room this year beacause I ain't sharing. I may sound selfish, but I am not staying up all night listening to someone snore.... after they tell me that they don't snore. Fuck that. Rooms are cheap. Book a room.

My room was right next to the fish cleaning room last year.

I'm all set with a Bay side room this year.
