I'll just say that the knives are exactly where they need to be!

On the 27th of March I had a Knee Revision Surgery on my right knee replacement. It was supposed to be fairly easy - replace two parts, close the incision, and 6 weeks of PT. Supposed to be simple! The incision was still bleeding 4 days after surgery; so the DR. said don't start rehab, take it easy - so I did - didn't do anything until last Thursday when I went to the ER.

The day before I was experiencing some shortness of breath; the home health nurse and a friend of mine, an active duty Army SgtMaj (Medical Type) said "you need to get to the ER - you probably have a Pulmonary Embolism." He was right. The good news according to the ER Doc is "you're here in the hospital, the bad news is you have pulmonary embolisms."

Back to the knife story. Fred told me a couple of weeks ago that he was "baking" and was going to send me some of his "famous" iced ginger cookies. When my wife brought the box to the hospital it felt a little too heavy; like a lot of cookies or a knife I suspected...I was right there was a knife in a separate box!

Fred says that he thinks this is one of his best knives he's ever made; I won't argue with him on that! It has a 6" Feather Damascus Blade and a Snakewood Handle with a copper frame and stainless pins. Sorry for the lousy cell phone pictures - they don't do the knife any justice at all...

A knife like that is almost (I DID say almost) worth the emboli!

Glad you're doing better, and hope you just keep getting better! Share the cookies with the nursing staff. That will go a long way towards your comfort during the stay.
