I take the family to the Renaissance Faire every year, and I try to go in costume at least once. I decided to have a Viking style dagger made and settled on Canadian Knifemaker Mark Banfield. It is more of a fantasy piece than a period correct piece. (No Hamon on viking blades) But I figured I would have a fun piece made. Forged 1075 blade with hamon. 416 stainless guard and pommel. Nickel silver spacers. I had him carve a couple ravens into the African Blackwood
handle and an Ouroboros on the bone spacer. The knife is very light in the hand and would not feel out of place with my post apocalyptic gear. View attachment 137009 View attachment 137010 View attachment 137008

This link to his site has my knife on his home page. enjoy.

Thanks guys. It's about an 11 inch blade btw. Super sharp and pointy.

    Great looking knife.

"Viking style" may be a stretch

I agree it being a stretch, blade shape is not really what I think of as a Viking blade. It really ended up more of a fantasy style blade. But I like it. Also I can keep looking for a more authentic looking one..hopefully with a walrus ivory handle.

They need to be "peace tied" so you can't casually pull them out.
