My husband (when employed by CPS) had to pay $890 for an ambulance ride 7 blocks to the closest hospital to check for broken fingers - they said that it was protocol and there was no choice. I'm moving SOIMEWHERE????

I had the surgery on June 17th, and there were no problems with it at all! :devilzeek :devilzeek :devilzeek
Recovery was a few days of pain, a few weeks of not being able to do much at all, but I'm back to "normal" now.

THE BILLS started coming in from the doc's who were out-of-network, and they're freakin' me out a little. There are three of them (so far) demanding money from me. About $48,000 total. Two of them are being pretty decent about it, helping me fight my insurance so they can get paid, but the other DICK HEAD doesn't give a fuck about me and just wants his money or is going to sue me for it.

It's a good thing I have decent health insurance. If you add up ALL the charges from the first time I went to my PCP, all the testing, all the specialists, and the surgery, it totals out to over $300,000! :devilzeek If they eliminated all the bullshit tests, it would have been HALF that amount.

Speaking of tests, I need to address my prior post below:

The first time I had the chemical cardiac stress test, it WAS pure torture. Since then, they've changed the drugs they use!!!! :manganr: THIS test was a breeze! Only about 3 minutes of discomfort, with a doc standing by with the counter drug to stop the reaction if it got to be too much for me.
If I frightened anyone away from getting the chemical test, I apoligize. This "new" stress test is nothing to be afraid of. So long as you have the insurance to pay for it! :bwah::bwah::bwah:

Basically they stick electrodes on ya' and put you on a treadmill to raise your heart rate and check for defects.
If you're not able to run, and I do mean RUN they can give you the chemical stress test, where they just give you a shot to raise your heart rate.

Damn, that sounds horrible. I understand it's something they need to do, but shit it sounds like something that would be done to illegal combatants at Gitmo Bay rather than a medical test. Sorry you had to go through that.
