    I had never seen this wood before, unfortunately I only had this one set of scales. Was very cool wood though! The pics are terrible, sorry about that.

    actually, any species of wood can have burl.

    burl forms when there is an infection or fungus on the tree and the "scar tissue" from the healing process is burl

    ever see carpathian elm burl, darn pretty stuff, ill have to dig out a piece and post a pic of it
