Just received my HazeTac Swell (aluminum version) today and been fidgeting with it for a bit. Here are a few pics:

    My initial thoughts:
I like the aluminum handles - light and swing smooth (curious how the aluminum will hold up over time).
I like the blade/handle design and the A2 blade steel.
Could be a good EDC option.

I'm going easy. That looks like brass knucks or stab design.

Got my SS Swell today and it is a pretty piece indeed. Fit, finish, feel & overall quality is top notch and it flips just fine. Very pleased and look forward to seeing more from Chris.

Please explain what a glass break is. I know what it is...but I'm looking out for those who don't. Not everybody is as smart as I am.

***Always looking out for the little people

    Edit...

Never mind. I just looked at the before and after. I could never do that to a new bali.

    ***Nice job though

That "glass break" horn can also be used as a skull crusher when deployed as a striking weapon, the finger grips on the Swell are also a plus in this category.

Excuse my French but why the fuck would you remove a feature from the tang of a Balisong that is not deigned to be flipped? I would really like to know the logic behind this. And I hope to be blown away at my ignorance.

    my mind was here:

that glass break is very very sharp

    the design is for edc

i plan to edc it for awhile and its my knife, i’m decently active and sometimes have to contort myself in weird positions to work on equipment for work.

that glass break will easily make a hole in pants pockets, a sheath, a LEG.

also edc but there is no latch

since its latchless im carrying it in a leather sleeve and i don’t want it making a hole or tear in it.

i have other things i can use as glass breaks that don’t have to be on my balisong

it flips just fine for what it is and better now that i removed the glass break that i didnt like anyway

for the price you get a quality edc bali
    built like a tank
    based off 80’s-90’s balis

*if i’m going to be a critic
    torx hardware would be better
and the handles resting a hair wider when opened and closed

This is cool seeing what you guys think of the Swell! Normally where I sell, I never see or hear from folks again.

    Couple thoughts after reading through.

You all get exactly what these were designed for.

Notes taken on handle open and closed rest position. I will tweak this for the next batch. I chose that design since they are latchless to prevent things from sliding between the handles that you dont want sliding between the handles.

The glass breaker is all Taoist. It is a weapon in itself that works great with the handle design without even having to open the knife in a pinch. If you don't like it or if it is too sharp, by all means modify away. It is what I do so be brave and make it your own. Just keep the heat from grinding down so as not to affect heat treating of the steel.

These are meant to be carried in a horizontal sheath glass breaker forward. That is how I carry it. If you want to pocket carry or you are like Apd and wear it while crawling around in weird positions I would suggest dulling it.

Apd, it was extremely cold here in the mountains the day I assembled your knife so I wonder if that, coupled with going from high altitude low humidity to low altitude high humidity could have caused the tightness in your handle? The tolerances are extremely tight so it doesn't take much to affect it. If you have any issues contact me directly and we will get you fixed up.

Thanks again everyone ang glad to see you enjoying them!

Oh and hardware will be updated to torx on the next batch. Problem is finding them in that size without the stupid security torx but I found a supplier.

    @Chris@HazeTac
i loosened the hardware, worked the pivot a little, cranked it tight again and its fine

    tolerances are great

i get the concept for the glass break, i just didnt want it myself

    to each their own

and sue me for flipping it! lol

    to be honest
round the groove design overall for a bit more comfort
tad longer handles out of ti
tad longer blade with even spine and you’d have yourself a badass flipper

hmmm hmmm perhaps a drop down options tab will appear on the website "edc barely legal version/flipper version" now that I am transitioning to online sales and dedicating my time to the making of my knives. We shall see.

and to be fair “edc” doesn’t necessarily mean “first defense combat weapon”
