2013 is the 100th birthday of stainless steel. I have to say that she is looking good for her age!

Born in Sheffield in Portland Works where there are still knives being made...

...and today, Monday 18 February, is the inventor of stainless steel, Harry Brearley's Birthday. Harry would have been 142 years old.

The Sheffield bi annual metalworking festival in May, Galvanize, is doing all things stainless this year. So lots of events happening throughout May including an exhibition from the Association of Contemporary Jewellery.

    http://www.acj.org.uk/index.php/events/acj-events/221-stainless-acj-exhibition

...and there is an exhibition that includes modern knives on at the Butchers Works, a beautifully restored former knife factory that how houses caft workshops.

The British Knifemakers Association (KMA) is trying to push contemporary knife making into as many venues/exhibitions as possible throughout the year.

I'll try and keep this updated with info and take pictures as I go!
