    Hi Grace,

yes, after we had the "you need a legal reason" law here, I looked more for the knives with less then 12cm blade length.
If you once start noticing them, there is a lot very good stuff to find.

and i hope when Markus is better, he will finally make my Dikke Leo knife ( named after me :manganr: )
dikke Leo means as much as Fat Leo , you can see why
    steel : 1.2363
    blade : 13,5cm long , 50mm wide , 10,5mm thick ( a hair over 3/8")
    grip: 13cm lang

i like Marcus his knives very much,
all i have seen from him is very good fit and finish,
and he is open for new things, trying out super steels ,
and not afraid to destroy a knife in testing a new new steel or heat treatment, in short a maker i respect very high

this design i like very much

    ja, richtig!!!

So you can't have a bali in Germany? even at home?

As far as i know in Oesterreich, you can not have one with you in the street, but i can buy some on Austrian website, so i guess at home it is ok.

Plus who is going to know that you have one on you unless you show it off?

I have emailed Gunther asking him if he can make the handle 2 tones : black ebony and pre-ban elephant ivory!! :manganr:

No balis and otf's are prohibited in Germany. I believe you can even carry a bali in Austria. Why wouldn't you?

J├╝rgen Schanz should be mentioned as well, he is a well known knife maker in Germany.

    greetings

Another one, German speaking, albeit not from Germany.

Michael Blank is an Austrian knife maker from Vienna (where i live) who works in Vienna, so really a local guy...

Here is his website (german sorry) if you press on the RED WORDS (hyperlinks) you will eventually get to see some pictures!!

    http://www.michaelblank.at/Klingenobjekte.html

I own a variation of this one (12cm long blade, will take pic tonight), and use it as my "eating knife" as i do have other toys for cooking :

Michael also designed its own leather sheaths, so together you get a great package.

As far as i can tell he doesn't have a catalogue of models, but is more likely to create a blade based on an idea or theme, which is nice since it preserve the uniqueness and originality of the item you just purchased

Here's one of the not so well known makers, he's spezialised in Bowies, especially California style and frame tang (handle) assembly.

    http://www.gerdhaats.de/index.php/en.html

He's also a well known reenactor and restaurator of Colt, S&W and other famous guns or rifles beginning from the civil war up to the late 1890ies.

Gecko your pictures aren't working anymore :unintroduced:.

I would like to introduce a padded kydex sheath made by Markus Reichart. It is padded with a synthetic leather, it is non-porous, washable and it can be cleaned with alcohol without any damage.
