Made in France, unfamiliar with the maker "GR-France"

    Greetings all.
I recently purchased this knife online, in new condition.
Made amazingly well, with very nice Pepper wood scales.
I am however unfamiliar with the maker which is stamped on the blade: "G R" France.
I did some searching and came up with the name Gilles Reynewaeter (GR).

Anyone familiar with this maker "GR"?
Additionally, I notice that the blade does not have a visible sharp "bevel" on the edge.
    Any idea why?

    Thanks.

GR France / Gilles Reynewaeter ?
    Handle: Corsican pepper wood.

I don't know for your knife, but the name is from the Director of Thiers Issard which is a well known straight razor brand. I don't know another GR, but i could search a bit :D

The French have a big range of knife making, sure they should not be reduced on the "classic" knives, but the Laguiole, Nontron, Opinel and the Corsican vendettas are the knife designs which hit my taste.

The new models with backlock (and very smooth opening) are a great development.

    " Tourist knife"?

If this one is just a "tourist" knife, maybe that explains why there's no "beveled sharp edge"?

I just sent it back to the seller I bought it from on Ebay, I will get a full refund.
It had absolutely no sharp edge, I would have had to pay someone to put an edge on it, not worth it.

If you are after real traditionnal french knives, you have opinel, douk douk from cognet, nontron, and some laguiole. 99% of the laguiole are from pakistan and china. And in the last percent, i don't think there are more than 0.1% produce near laguiole. ( a big part are from thiers.)

I like Perrin A BUNCH! Szabo inc seems to be hooked up with him pretty well.

    http://www.szaboinc.com/edged_detail.asp?offset=5&ID=123

I bought my significant other one of these^^^ with hot pink kydex. Nasty little blade in the right hands.

I really want a Perrin balisong. One day hopefully.

And you know I love the rough and dirty look on the Forged stuff he does.

The carbon fiber ones kick ass too.
