    hi all,

thought that i would share my experiences and some methods for making my hand sculpted and profiled pocket clips

all work is done on my little 2x42 sander

    here is goes

    first clip i made
i used some Alabama buckshot Damascus that i had laying around

the result: it worked but not very well

then i got kinda ballsy and decided to make my next clip out of a brand new piece of beautiful boomerang mokuti

#44 drill bits where used to drill

counterbored it with a custom carbide counterbore i got off of a guy of BF

    more profile work

test fit on my trusty pm2 (witch i want to get some ti or cf scales for)

skipped alot of the spring relief grinding and polishing (up to 2000 grit than buffed
    [IMG]

the stunning (imo) ano (really liking mokuti its a great material)

    the hand ground spring relief

it really stands out on the black pm2

vindland damasteel clip profiled with holes drilled and counterbored

right out of the etch after being taken up to 2000 grit than buffed (37 percent HCl- it is some fun stuff to deal with /S)

    Clips

Thanks for sharing the WIPs. Nice work. Especially loved the mokuti. Did you use a contact wheel to get that "hollow" out? If so, what size?

    hey

i used the wheel on the 2x42
i think its a 6in wheel but that may be wrong

ideally a 2x72 with a small wheel attachment would work best if i was not going to use a mill

that would be sweet i however do not have a mill only a pheer grinder and a drill press so it would have to be a simple knife scale

i wish would commission one so i can do it :jdwink2:

    Nice stuff!

I made some mokuti recently with 12 US quarters, came out solid, but the pattern left a little to be desired.

Is the color on your mokuti done with heat or some other process?

Also do you have any info on the counter bore bit? I'd like to get one if the BF fellow has more.
