As Digs, generally i started earlier :).

I've started a big skean Dhu in 90MCV8 with differential hardening and carbon fiber :).

    Picture soon :D

    The design

    I cut the blade
    [IMG]
I straighten the flat side with a file.
I drilled the hole and make a bit a rotary burr work
    [IMG]
i marked the center of the edge
    [IMG]
    rough grind
    [IMG]
I checked the not flat point of the first grind
    [IMG]
    checkering time
    [IMG]
heat treatment with two burner (one propan on one with butan :)
The hamon is too high in the center but i have and hamon on 90MCV8 :), that is different from what i intend to have.
    Clean
    [IMG]
Another hole and titanium pins for the carbone fiber handle. I wanted to make ti bolster but i've lost one on them in my mess and was too lazy to redo one :D
    [IMG]
    grind is almost done
    [IMG]
    it's polishded
    [IMG]
    My logo
    [IMG]

    with the carbon fiber scale
    [IMG]
It's the longest blade of the year (as each year :)).

    Next time, scale work :D

Some picture soon :). I shaped the handle and beadblasted the blade. I was too lazy to pin and glue the handle. It will be for the next time :D

Nice looking sgian dubh. You'd need some length of leg for that to fit in your sock. Another inch and I'd call that a dirk.

I keep the end of the handle like this. It's a "pommel" to hit the head :). But it's right, i could put something in the hole :D

I'm not so tall to have the big socks in relation with the knife :).

The scale are grinded, the ti pins cut.
Beurkkkk, a log of epoxy :).
It's better after some dust on the grinder :D
    [IMG]
With my suminagashi kamisori (i always keep and save the broken work :)) i "shaved" the epoxy on each side of the scale.
It's time to clean everything with a nice and soft 400 and 600 grit.
Some paint protection tape before bead blasting
    [IMG]
It's bead blasted. Some japanese and french stone. Some diamond plate. A piece of leather and it's ok :D

It's done. Better picture soon. It's on the computer, but it's late now :D

I'm happy with the result of the blade . It's not the longest, it's not the most impressive, it's dark, it's almost a small "sword" that could be used against monster and demon :D
