Ah yes, the snow is melting away, the days are starting to stay above freezing a nice rain shower will take away a most of the loose winter dirt... and that tarp is comming off the motorcycle. Need to change out the speedo cable and get new tires on the front and back(already have a new back tire waiting) and an oil change and she'll be ready for the season, oh yes. This as every rider here knows, is what I've been waiting for all winter, another week, maybe two... and It'll be time.

    Gentlemen. Start your engines.

That said, who here rides and what do you ride?

Me, I got a '81 Kawasaki 750 Ltd. She's old but by god is she fun.

The Kawasaki 900 was a popular favorite around here in the 70s & 80s.

Clocked at 120 mph during a cross county chase. Too loose for my comfort.

My bike is a Trek 7000 and I think I'm getting her a set of fenders this year, a set of slicks and a rack and bag for the summer. Trying out using a bike for local (under 10 miles) errands and such this year, already started.

I've been clocked at 32mph on it (flat pavement), and have maintained 21mph for an hour or so. That is a muther with trail-friendly gearing.

It's the 1997-1998 variety, with no shocks, real-deal mountain gearing and the lower bars. The current variation is a lot closer to a hybrid.

I may, if I can swing the loose change, opt for a cyclo-cross this year, a cross-up between a mountain bike and a road-racer. It would prove practical in our local mixed terrain. I've not seen one I like under $1500 though, which is a solid chunk of change for something you pedal to make it go :bwah:

    Here's my bike:

2001 Burley Sandpoint recumbent, the Sandpoint was a total base model with shit components, it now has almost $2000 worth of highend components. This spring I plan on getting an upgraded seat for it, full mesh, 4130 cro-moly vs the stock aluminum seat and a 1lb lighter. It's been up to 40mph, but I usually cruise at around 15-16mph. Had it out the other day for a short ride, I'm miles out of shape, but it was still fun.

This isn't my actual bike, but it could be her twin. Due to leg problems and with
the Doctor threatening to amputate both at the knee, I had to sell my baby.:shockedevil:
I rode her for years and man do I miss her.:ssad:

I've thought about that. There just aren't many customizers or builders of
trike's that I can find locally. I did think about calling Orange County
Chopper and see what they could do if anything. I don't think I'll ever feel
as at peace in a car or truck as I do on a bike.:ssmile:

wrapping a bunch of steel, plastic and glass around yourself
    cuts you off from space:
the wind on your face, letting you know, without a fucking doubt, that your body is traveling through the air at speed...
it makes the nerve-endings hum and crackle with Life.
Using your body:muscle and bone,to move the iron horse beneath you to your will...
a cage just don't do it.
