Thanks but she's going right from her Mac to the TV. I know it is an HDMI connection of some sort but when I went over the WalMart, it was a friggin waste of time cause frankly they are all dumb asses. Not one person there knew what I was asking or talking about. thanks

    Sorry, I was just playing.

Did you bring the device in question inside for them to stare at moronically?

I also think you would have better luck going into a best buy or such.

Love this link crogers..I will investigate it further when I have more time.

longbow I hope you find a solution. Currently I use Roku and love it. I have only found out how to cast YouTube's videos to the TV.

I think the problem is probably already solved, but Apple likes to use a lot of "mini" cables / adapters. Mini HDMI and Mini Display Port are pretty common on their products, and a lot of the newer stuff just uses USB type C / Thunderbolt and it can do everything from connecting a monitor to plugging in a hard drive and transferring files. You may also look at Chromecasts too, they're a couple of bucks and they'll let you stream from phones or other mobile devices straight to a TV. If you're going in on a smart TV a Chromecast could be pretty cool to stick in the stocking as well, but good old fashioned cables won't have a learning curve :)
