    Good question , and yes it can any good local mill can do it for you. only problem is the finer the thread the easier it can be stripped .

    As long as it's annealed and you use a good tap with cutting fluid, it should be fine. 0-80 is always a hard size but 1-72 and up is less concern.

    Shars self reversing tapping head.
    Very similar to tapmatic for about half the price
    One of my better investments about 150$
    Should have no problem with damascus
    But drill the hole a little larger and use thread forming taps. The steel would obviously need to not be hardened
