I open my build off post :)

I'm not able now to go to the workshop but i have the main idea.

It will be a big dagger (21 cm sharp for 35 cm long) if you find it's something in the way of the Mark II it's normal :). I think the final product will be different but the design is mainly inspired by that fantastique model :D

The steel will be probably C130 or 90MCV8 5 or 6mm thick. Full hollow grind. The handle will be mainly in kirinite black lava (full tang) and the bolster will probably be in titanium burned, or in polycarbonate red devil.

I will maybe enlarge a bit the handle and the start of the blade to fit better with the "leaf" point :D

Come on Devil it time so think to your project :D

That will be a fun build, Ben. Daggers are always a challenge.

I hope your recovery is going well. When do you think you will be able to work in the shop?

You realize your vision of a big dagger is a Gerber Mk II? Almost exactly.

Now, go 30cm and you may be on to something. :bwah:

    The MkII Gladius.

Yes i know that is almost the same :) (i wrote it in the first post :D) i think it's the most beautiful dagger. But mine will be full tang and i'm almost sure, in the end, the final product will be really different from the MKII. But my project is fully inspired by that marvellous dagger :D

Day 1: 2 hour of cutting
Normaly that should have been less long. But my band saw was a pain in the ass.... Each cm , the blade went out of the wheel.... I tried to adjust the thing, but each time the blade was out. I finaly changed the blade and succeed to cut.... It's long, very long. More or less 25 cm of blade :) (i added 4 cm). 90MCV8 (O2 tool steel) 5 mm thick.

For the comparison i have put a 8/8 straight razor blade rough cut :)

During a garage sale that week i found that nice thing for almost nothing :). That is not for the build off, but i'm happy of my found :D

Thank you :D; milling the guard has been a pain with the dremel and rotary burr. But i'm happy of the result. I hope to not mess everything with the grind and the HT. As i don't have fully recovered, it's a bit difficult to work in the shop.

    Day 4 heat treatment.
2hour to build everything and start the forge. i was dumb because i forgot to put away the holed washer i put in the burner to test out of the forge.... The forge was "cold".... I finally succeed to heat correctly when i solve that "problem" :D. The blade wrapped a bit but i straightened if easily :D
