New Boom Stick Finished
Finished this one up the other evening and got to shoot it earlier this evening. I built two of these, one for things that go bump in the night and for use as a boat gun. Both started life as mid 70's Remington 870 Wingmasters. I stripped both down to the bare receivers and smoothed everthing out, (the wingmasters need very little work compared to the newer 870's) Trigger is nice and crisp and pulled most of the trigger apart blasted the small parts then did a commercial EN plating. Custom modified the shell holder to work with the factory Remington Top Folder stock and EN plated all sub to match . (Yes even the small screws and washers) Plated two barrels for each, one a factory rifled 20 inch and the other a 24 modified with vent rib. All Commercial EN plated to be a matched set. Upgraded the spring and follower to a scattergun, blasted a factory plus 3 and barrel band and plated along with a scattergun wide sling mount. Mounted a new Surefire M69 rail forearm system and used a couple of magpul XTM covers. Stripped a factory surefire light down and plated to match, running a new custom LED drop in module with Blue flip up beam shaper. With the new plating the action is buttery smooth and the industrial plating will last a lifetime. I've done several of these over the years and I think this is my most favorite to date. Glad I did both barrels on these so I can mix and match as situation warrants. Thought you guys might like a few pics. Pictures do no justice to how this looks in person. Beautiful low glare mat finish on everything.

To get everything adjusted, fitted, smoothed, prepped and then plated It takes me around 12 hours give or take a few beers.

Now thats a boom stick! Nice work. Definitely a labor of love. I wish I had the skill to do something like that. The extent of my gunsmithing is pretty much the operation of QD levers!

Appreciate the kind words on the work. My neighbor got to shoot the one when I went to do the test firing ...He's now trying to buy one off me, he would stop over and see the nightly progress.

While the bluing on the older Wingmasters is beautiful , it will never hold up to elements or have the corrosion resistance that this new plate will give the weapon. It also makes the action super slick. I have stuff done 10 and 12 years ago with countless rounds... and they still look like new.
