Thread: Charity!

    Charity!

Dang - well, this morning I had an epiphany in the shower (best place to have those) and I figured I'd get rid of something for charity. The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund to be exact.
Hahaha, so in an act of pure insanity, I grabbed my favorite, and probably my most expensive knife out of my box and put it up for auction on a particular site. There's even a little link to direct how much of the proceeds go and I figured, what the hell, 100%.
She will sorely be missed, but hopefully it does some good!!!!!
Hhahahahaha Devils! I dare ya to do the same! C'mon!

    Good for you, Mike.

I hope your auction attracts some high bidders.

Thanks - sometimes you have to do something, sometimes I think everyone has to help. Losing my favorite knife is nothing compared to what these people have, and will continue to go through.

    Right here man!

At first, I thought of just selling it outright on one of the forums. But when I saw that you could attach the fund to the auction site and pick how much of the proceeds go to the fund I figured it's a no brainer. I honestly hope someone will overpay for it so the knife can do even more good.

Ah hell! A huge THANK YOU to the Mighty JD for allowing me to post this here. It's not the norm for sure but rest assured I get 0 profit from this.

I got the smack laid down on me somewhere else

Glad you're being given a voice here. I just made a donation to the site through your link.

I'm planning on giving more to the Red Cross on Monday. The company I work for matches funds given to the Red Cross so I (personally) know I can do even more good by contributing there.

While we're at it, can someone educate me on why auction spotting is so bad?

You mean posting a link on JD to your auction on the auction site?

It is not allowed because it is basically spam.

If we let one person do it... then we end up with a lot of people doing it.

I know of one forum that has a sub forum for auction site link pimping... but they don't suffer the same number of forum exploiters/leeches as we do.

(i.e The members who are only here to take advantage of the free sales forums and impart nothing to The JD)

Remember Devilz... March 15th is 10% off every sales thread on The JD.

That was a pretty knife; I couldn't have parted with it.

You are a stronger (or possibly just more insane) man than I.

    Respect
