    Fancy dress knife

Sometimes, a situation calls for getting gussied up and wearing something other than a t-shirt and jeans. When you have to wear a suit, or some other form of dress clothes, what knife do you carry? Pocket clip or no? Blade color? Do they matter?

When it's time to get dressy I have a few that I choose from. The one I carry most often is my William Henry B12-TZ. Very slim profile, full Ti scales with three blue annodized engraving marks on each side, deep pocket carry blue annodized Ti pocket clip (I wear it clipped), button lock with sapphire inlay, sapphire inlay in the thumbstud, satin finish blade with ZDP-189 core. This knife has cut many steaks at weddings and carries unnoticeable in the pocket.

Sometimes I'll carry either a Kershaw Sapphire or a Spyderco Kopa (Abalone and MOP) clipless in the right front pocket. The Sapphire is very lightweight.

Finally, sometimes I'll carry a Microtech UTX-70 in the small change pocket inside the RFP. If I'm wearing a pair of slacks that has no inside change pocket I will carry the UTX-70 unclipped at the bottom of the pocket.

If I'm wearing a suit jacket somtimes I'll have a Microtech Troodon clipped to the inside left pocket of the jacket.

William Henry spearpoint, or small sebenza when I'm dressed up. The wife doesn't like the pocket clip look, so it usually goes in pocket. I did have a strider clipped in my pocket at my wedding though!

I actually think one of the Al Mar re-issued or original Eagle or Eagle Talon knives would be a fine choice. The change pocket at the bottom of your front pocket will hold the knife nicely for you.

An Eagle Ultralight will also make a good choice.

I tend to carry the same fixed blade in a slip sheath behind my hip regardless of jeans, shorts or a Boss suit. Mad Dog knives make excellent gentlemen's accessories, as will a Barkie dressed up for the prom. A nice kydex sheath does wonders for your carry options.

I've never owned a William Henry, but the new E6 and E12 cross the line nicely between art and knife. The ZDP189 blades are likely non-starters for me.

I've even carried a Sebenza clipped to the pocket of a suit. It's not bad at all.

If you carry with a clip, take it off the knife and smooth off the back edge so you do not cut up the finer fabric of your dress slacks.

Dehorn your knife nicely. No sharps with dress slacks.

And don't pick your teeth with it while at dinner with your boss, lawyer, in-laws, pastor, whomever requires you to wear a suit!

If I am wearing a suit, I clip a small Sebenza on my waist or on the inside pocket of the jacket.
I'm going to guess that all of your failures prior to the "revolution" will pale in comparison to how hard your life will be afterward. You will not rise to the occasion. If you can't succeed in a structured, ordered society, you will continue to fail miserably when winning friends and influencing people becomes vitally important.
