I am new to this world of balisongs with just a few in my case. I prefer the Spring Latch over the T-latch since the noise is attenuated with flipping. However, I do find the T-latch a lot easier to actuate and open in a second. In a defensive posture or for when the SHTF, then a T-latch probably would be better.
Being that I have carried a balisong on me, I prefer a latchless.

as a flipper, spring latch makes things so much better.
The T-Latch 42 has TI handle's also.
RIP JERRY
I just tied it up again... I voted new. Why? I believe it's probably the better flipper.
Stainless is nice, it has momentum, but it lacks the speed needed for some tricks. I've
handled stainless/brass, and I think ti is the clear winner for performance.
Now in terms of looks? I don't know what it is, but the old T-Latch looks better. It has
more appeal to me than the new. But being I'm a flipper more than collector I voted new.
I went for the looks and voted for the old.
But for flipping I seemed to like spring latches more
I voted new...why because i am a flipper and that is all. The spring latch makes a lot of the moves much more convenient for me..and a few of the moves that i do make use of the spring latch system, and would not be possible with a t-latch without some modifications which would render it useless as a ltch system.
look wise i don't really care..they both look fine and i don't really give much thought about it.
i also don't care about carrying a balisong or knife..i've never really come across anything in my day to day life where a knife would make things that much easier for me. As far as a defense position goes..that would be useless to me as well, my fists have served me well and do the job just fine...besides, i would rather not get into a legal tangle by having to defend myself with a knife...I've had plenty of legal issues in my life in the past and adding a knife into the equation would just make it worse.
there really is no answer to this question at all...just like any which knife is better or which knife color is better red or blue or any other incarnation of it type of question...its all personal preference and what you are using it for.

Aesthetically; I prefer the old T-Latch.
Practically; I prefer the Spring latch as it is better for flipping and reduces the chance of the latch Effing up your blade to 0%
Dey yah pon de ends.
The newer 42s blow the older ones away hands down.
New - love the spring latch!
I like the SS handles with spring latch best of all.
