Glock 21 vs Glock 30 Accuracy and Recoil

I shot the Glock 21 the other day. That gun is very very accurate.
I was super impressed. I have a thing for compacts though. Just
wondering if the accuracy was comparable to say going from a 17
to a 19 or a 22 to a 23. Is it a huge difference or is the 30 still pretty
capable. I heard the 36 is not nearly as accurate, but the 30 is very
    accurate.

Anyone shot the two? Or own?

Had both; kept the 30. The 30 seems to fit my hand better than the 21 or 21SF.

    I've had several Glock 21s and 30s

the 30 is just as accurate as the larger gun. I would venture to say that the 30 may actually be a bit more accurate

I finally settled on the 30sf because it fits my hands better

Our department recently issued the 21sf RTF to our SWAT team

my 30sf is more accurate than any of those 21s

the only complaint I have about the 30 is that with factory base plates, my pinky finger gets pinched during recoil. All of my magazines have had replacement base plates installed and now there are no issues

edited to add: I don't remember much of a difference with recoil

last time I had to requalify at the academy, I just used my 30sf instead of my larger issued gun

it shot the tightest group out of the bunch

I have both. Both are more accurate than I am. Both are great guns.

Hmm, I think that's what I want next then (G30). I shot it next to a Kimber and though
the Kimber is one extremely nice and appealing gun at the end of the day, I can't deny
I shot a lot better with the G21. Plus, it is HALF the cost of the Kimber. 1911 will happen
    one day guys!

Is the grip of the 21 and 30 grip about the same. I did hold a 30, and it felt very comfortable
to me. But it was a while ago.

    I have a G29 and G30 (10mm and .45 acp)

Here's my target I shot with the G29, in 10mm. Range begins at 3-1/2 yd line and ends at the 15. That's 2 rounds in the head; as they are supposed to be; it is part of the course; 2 to the chest, 1 to the head twice. Best possible score is 150; that target would score 150. I shot it better then the HK USP2000 .40 S&W that we carry.

Nice shooting! But is 10mm similar to 45ACP in recoil/feel?

10 mm loads of today, on average, are similar to 40 and 45 in my hands. The hottest loads that the FBI initially tested are more feisty. However, it doesn't feel like the recoil of my 357 Snubby with 357 loads. It took a while to get accustomed to it, but that is what I carry in it...not 38 P. I want maximum force.

Massad Ayoob feels that the 30 is the most accurate of the Glocks. In all comers, I feel it's the Glock 17. Longer barrel, less recoil.

I considered the 30 but I don't use extended baseplates for my Subcompact Glock 27 and I didn't want to start with the Glock 30. My rotation for CCW is between the 27 and 23 in a 60 to 40 % ratio.

I also favor Generation 3 over the newer and less proven Generation 4.

Nothing against any other brands and I'd buy another quality brand for a good price, but I am truly a Glock FanBoy. It's a gun that I can disassemble and assemble blindfolded.

I was shooting a 21 SF, a 19 and a 26 this afternoon. For some reason, I shot the 26 the best at 7 yds. I figured the 21SF would have been the better shooter for me.

I can't seem to shoot a G36 as well as my G30 so the 36 went bye bye. My 19 & 17 are my favorites. I sold the 26 and want the 34. I don't care for the gen 4's either.

I'm not a bullseye shooter; when I go to the range to shoot it is usually at a silhouette target.

The 10mm cartridge sold today is tamer then the original Norma ammo but it is a flatter harder hitting round and I like it.

Zoid - I've said this before...and will repeat it. All guns have recoil. From the lowly .22 Short to the .500 S&W they all go bang. Newton's Law is right. Anyone can learn how to manage recoil; the first time I shot a .44 Magnum (my neighbor's Super Blackhawk w/pachmyer grips) it hurt. David told me not to fight the recoil but to control it. Worked a lot better next shot...

I'm leaning toward the 30/30SF as of right now. I want to add a sub compact to the
collection, but at the same time, doesn't make sense for me to get too small cause I
won't be able to carry it. If it ends up not being fun to shoot at the range it'll be a
bit of a waste for me.
