    Latest BM 42, rough?

Does anyone own both the latest release and the previous one of the BM 42? How big is the difference? Also, do you think the previous edition will be more valuable than the new, rough one?

    Thanks...

i do not own them myself but have read other peoples posts about them at the flipping arena and most say they like the rough ones better because its not as slick as the smooth ones and provides better grip hence more control over the knife its self and i dont see why the older ones would be worth more essentially its the exact same knife

It's a personal preference. I prefer not to flip a rougher feeling knife.

I ended up selling my 42 that had a rough finish. I don't know the tendency to scratch because I didn't use it. The feel alone was a turnoff.

i bought one of the newer 42's from DaBird a while back, and the rougher finish is not a deterrent for me at all.

i prefer it to the smooth finish because i find it has better grip.
i havent found any QC issues with it. it flips great and is holding up very well since i got it

I prefer my 154 blade over a 440. There is this BALI BRO's opinion

I own both and yes there is a bit of difference. The older version has better handles(obviously), but I don't mind the newer version at all. My post 2009 model must have had the pins pressed in differently because the older model actually has less play when tightened fully. But oddly enough, the older model has awkward looking handle patterns, yet both of my "Rougher" 42s have near perfect looking designs. And of course, the blades have very minor differences. I doubt the older model will be worth much more since they flip pretty much the same.
