The Bears used to play at Wrigley all the time. I'm pretty sure they had 2 endzones back then...
When the bears played there, the field ran north-south. THis game is being played east-west.
Wrigley field was just as suprised as the rest of the world when the announcement came, but in the end, safety is paramount, and there wasn't enough room for player safety, and not engough time to re-orient.
