Thanks again guys. I'm in the shop this morning but doing stuff that requires hand work. I have one rule, and that is if Heidi isn't here, no machines get turned on. It would be just like me to slip on the grinder or drill press and BAM I'm no longer counting to 10. Or worse.
Soooooo, I'm handrubbing S30V. For those of you who've done it, yeah you know it sucks.
Welcome! Always admired your work. Show us what's on the bench and more. Keep it dirty!![]()

You guys are really gluttons for punishment, eh?
OK, said chef's knife in S30V. Full flat ground with no plunge cuts and distal taper. The edge will be convex. Rounded spine and choil area. Most likely to 800 grit to remove all fish hooks and then backed off to a scotchbite finish (by hand, not belt). I like the satin look it gives. No idea on the handle yet, much less the bolsters.
And the bench that shall remain cluttered or I'll never find anything. Everything there from my failed attempt at the JD buildoff (got the heat treated blade back) to a flipper, a fixed blade out of Elmax and Bigbob's folder blade in 3V.

Clutter for the most part is work in progress. Thanks for sharing.
