The fine art of holding a grudge

Being Sicilian, I know this all too well. I cannot forget, but sort of forgive lots of people for lots of 'slights'. I have recently sold off a knife because the maker annoyed me about two years ago, for a promise of payment of 100 $ on a 350$ knife. Retarded logic, I am sure, but it made me feel better!

What are some of your issues regarding NOT letting things go?

I most always forgive, but never forget.

I say and do enough stupid shit that it would be hypocritical of me to hold grudges. For instance my lack of follow through.

I may decide someone is a piece of shit, which is different. You don't even have to do anything to ME to get on that list.

Grudge: a feeling of ill will or resentment.

It's just a funny sounding 6-letter word and only leads to an uicer.

It’s taken 9 different dogs and 65 long years to make
me the gentle, patient, mellow man that I am today.
Don’t be fuckin’with me and piss me the fuck off!

I only hold a grudge until one of us dies.

Agreed. I can't afford to hold a grudge for long. I just balance it with a fair memory for future dealings.

Holding a grudge I place right up there with jealousy. Waste of time/energy and Life's too short.

But have it if you like to stew in your own juice...

I was recently described by friend 1 as holding a grudge against friend 2. But I think friend 1 is wrong and that friend 2 is a constant asshole. I'd say I don't hold deep grudges but do put as much space as possible between myself and constantly negative people. I'm pretty lenient on the forgiving but I'm not an idiot and just go ahead and forget. As far as knife makers go, I have yet to meet a butt.
A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus," or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice.

I try not to hold a grudge but can. I just try to stay away from them and be done with it. I hate it when a mutual friend has a grudge against another. I just tell them that that crap is between them and has nothing to do with me. Makes me feel like I'm in some high school drama.

If someone does me wrong I just cut them off and never speak to them again, I just wash them away, but I don't stew over it, I don't hold grudges, sometimes I wish I did, it would be kinda cool to have an arch enemy.

I love when someone hold onto my grudge, especially if she is tall with long blonde hair and a nice ass.

I know where you're coming from buddy. Personally, I tend to burn too much energy keeping those mental notes active. But I don't forget.

Just don't *dwell* on them is more like it...

Once I have been wronged by someone, I write them off. I have never been in a fight and then became friends with the guy. I've shaken hands and agreed that's the end of it, but that's how it is for me, the end of it. I don't hate the person, or wish them harm, but when I see them again, I have no interest in them.

I've never learned how to truly forgive and forget. I get over it quickly and don't dwell on it, but I never really forget. I do not consider this an admirable quality, and I don't really like this about myself, but it doesn't affect me much, so I'm not hellbent on changing it.
