Very nice completion and color for the handle

    Thanks everyone!

The sheath is stitched up, wetted with hot water, and formed to fit the knife.
The belt loop is also finished and stitched on.

With the sheath dry, the edges are finished and it's ready to go!

The sheath fits very well, and the retention is very good. I'm really liking the low- carry design, the movement it allows, and the fact that I can put the knife on and off without undoing my belt!

That will go well with Ron's leather chaps and harness rig.

Now that everything else is done, it's time for my favorite part- sharpening! The edge was done with a worn 400 grit belt, an 800 grit belt, and finally a completely worn- out 1200 grit belt turned inside out and loaded with green chrome to buff the edge and remove the wire burr.
The final edge is scary sharp, and makes hair leap from your arm in terror!

Now that we're done, here's the final specs and pics:

    4.5" blade, 9 1/8" overall
1/4" thick 440C stainless steel; HT by Paul Bos heat treating at 57-59rc
    weight 7.3 oz.

For anyone who is interested in a detailed step- by- step look into how I make these knives, you can check out my WIP thread here (in case you missed it):

This blade is from this batch, and the construction is the same with the exception of the sheath design.

Thanks for following this thread- it was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to the 2011 build-off!

That turned out great, I knew the stock was relatively thick but when combined with the thinness off the slabs it looks even thicker for such a thin (in height) knife. The red and black contours turned out really well to.

The successful person in the art of living makes little distinction between their work and their play, their labor and their leisure, their mind and their body, their education and their recreation, and their love and their religion. They hardly know which is which, they simply pursue their vision of excellence in whatever they do, leaving others to decide whether they are working or playing. To them they are always doing both. ~ Zen Buddhist text
