    Will Emerson "Custom" Build Knives?

Effectively, the knife I want from Emerson, is not a knife they produce, but could (possibly) be parted together from knife components they do produce. What I want is a right handed, plain edge CQC-7 HD Combo (titanium framelock backside, standard G-10 frontside) without the wave on the black blade and the chisel grind on the right hand side of the knife. I could make it (possibly) by mixing and matching a couple of CQC-7s assuming the blade bases are identical on their liner lock and frame lock knives as well as on their right handed and left handed knives (handle off a right handed CQC-7SFS HD plus the blade off a left handed CQC-7B BT), but rather than spend the coin to do that and hope it would work I could just buy another Strider and have what I want. Will Emerson accept "custom" orders? Even if so, the Strider may still be the more cost-effective route. What say you?

Ernie Emerson definitely does customs, but you'd better be prepared to wait a long, LONG time.

You are correct, very long wait and FWIW it is difficult to even get on the list. Perhaps secondary market is your best option other than the inflated costs etc.

    Already did (first post).

Sounds like I may be better off just picking up another Strider. I doubt I will be able to get on the list and an extremely long wait does not interest me. Thanks.

You could get a Left handed model. Then get the handle pimped, grind the wave off and get get it DLC coated.

you let a man put his dirty little hands all over your baby.

strangely, when you pimp a knife money seems to flow in the wrong direction.

in this case it would be paying someone to make you custom scales

    I <3 Emerson and Strider

Oh okay, I had seen that STR of BKW makes titanium framelocks for Emersons but I was not sure if it really made making the knife easier per se.

Nice blades and thanks for the pics. I think though that I am going to go a different route now as I found some that are already built how I want: Bradley Cutlery Alias I and II. Going to pick up one of each and eventually another Strider. New thread to soon be created regarding similar designs.

i was always curious of this too,,
not for your particular setup, but the custom part.

personally i hate the wave. and will not buy another emerson with a wave.
i love his his blades and handle design, however for everyday carry im getting sick of the g10,, ive been thinking of getting someone to make me a walnut slabs to replace my g10, think it would look awesome wiht the new stonewash blades he has out.
