    Big Storm Comin'

We're gettin' a BIG snow storm here in NY today. Two storms are converging. One from the west with the snow, one from the southeast with rain (that's going to turn into snow). Where I am on Long Island, the FOG is unbelieveable. We're only supposed to get an inch or so of snow, but the inland areas could get over 18". If this fog is any indication of how bad the storm is, they're gonna get buried up to their assholes in snow!
If it's not fun, why do it?

If it weren't for BAD luck, I'd have NO luck at all!

Yeah... it's snowing here. I think it's supposed to snow for 40 days & 40 nights. I hope I'm wrong!

I'm in the thick of it....

ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND 2 INCHES EXPECTED BY EARLY EVENING. TONIGHT THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVIER WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR POSSIBLE DURING THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOW. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES ARE LIKELY OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. ANOTHER INCH OR TWO IS LIKELY FRIDAY MORNING BEFORE SNOW TAPERS OFF FROM EAST TO WEST ACROSS THE REGION.

STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES ARE LIKELY BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON

The other side of that same storm is set to provide me with another 1" to 3" of rain and some 50+ mph wind gusts. You guys shovel and I'll paddle.

    Thumbs up

You guys are getting our Montana weather apparently. With the shift in the Jet Stream, we had 40'+ and sunny yesterday, and have no snow left to be seen except on the mountain tops...my yard is still green, in February!

Got that right...take a look! You can split the east (Rain) from the west (Snow) looks like a river of ice between! I'll bring an ice pick, crampons, latter, rope and canoe!

Probably ended up with about 1.25" of rain today, on top of the almost 2" from the 24-36 hours before that. Wind didn't end up being so bad in my area. Along the coast and out on Cape Cod it was whipping pretty good. This is the strangest February storm I can remember, which seemed confirmed when the weathermen started geeking out over all of its unique characteristics.

Fuckin snow! Irondequoit NY where I live haven't even plowed the side fucking streets yet! and not many of the main streets either. So I shovel out my driveway at dark thirty this a.m. only to go inside and have a cup of coffee for I go to work. Hear the plow go by and think to myself probably pushed all the snow back into the end of my driveway. Well it was the side walk plow that pushed in both snow on my driveway and my end of my driveway. I wouldn't say it wasn't like I didn't shovel it but my Christ it almost looked like I didn't shovel it. Also my friggin back is screamin and burning baby.

So call work and tell'em I am going to be a bit late and to have some other guard at my post till I get there. I work security for a major gov't contractor here in the city. I mean it is snowing so friggin hard and blowing I can't believe they didn't shut the plant down but what do I know. So I get in the Grand Marquis which is a rear wheel drive car with about 400lbs of weight in the trunk in the form of tube sand and as I am going down our street about 100yds to the stop sign I notice that I am doing a ton of spinnig and I ain't even going fast. Pushing snow so to speak with the front air dam. Traction control idiot lite keeps flashing so make the turn onto List Ave., and uh oh. Signs of boggin down and actually visability is well not so great. Bear with me folks. I make it down List which is about a mile long and turn left, go down a hill and then off the side of the road out of snow plow tracks(contract plows ala 4 wheel drive) so I can avoid a female jogger joggin up the middle of the road. So I am stuck. Headed down hill though.

Ok fuck it, long story short at the end of this street it goes up hill around a turn and up an even steeper hill where I spend about 45 minutes trying to get unstuck again and again while a 4 wheel drive truck is right on my ass and not cutting me any slack when I need to back up to get going again. Windows are steamed up, all the blowers inside the car are working over time to try and keep up with the condensation to the point that I can't see backing up save for the truck lights about 10' behind me. I mean I am giving it my best shot to try and get unstuck and make room for the fucking idiot behind me. Anyways I get out of my car cause even with the windows down it is snowing so fucking hard I can't see really either side of the car to get a direction in which to back up. Needless to say the 4 wheeler went around me after a few choice words to him. Just rude behavior on his part is all I'll say.

Anyways I was so stuck I had to get the shovel from the trunk of the car and shovel out behind me so I can back up properly to get turned around to go back home. Which is where I am now and happy to be here. Even gettin home took about 2x as long as it took me to get where I was initially if that makes any sense. Fuck it and keepem sharp

The weatherman was a "LITTLE" off.
Instead of the inch or so we were supposed to get, I've got a good 8" on the ground, and it's still snowing hard.

My son went out at 6am to shovel out his car to go to work (Chase bank). Just as he finishes, the bank calls and tells him they're not going to open today! That worked out well for ME. He's out there now shoveling the driveway.

If it weren't for BAD luck, I'd have NO luck at all!
