    Official T.U.F. 10 Thread

I figured I would start this thread and use it to post about the show after each episode rather than starting a new weekly thread.

    Episode 2:

Tonight had one of the worst fights on TUF in awhile. I guess it could have been worse if we had two wrestlers that utilize "Lay and Pray" . I can't remember too many fights where BOTH fighters stood there in the center of the ring with their hands down bent over resting for extended periods in the middle of the fight. There were a few times where they were throwing punches and for a second I thought they were trying to high five each other.

Take a look at that Wes dude. He is fucking HUGE. It's not like he is out of shape, he is very muscular and fit but it takes allot of oxygen to operate a big ass structure like that. It makes you wonder how biggens like Brock Lesnar can have such stamina. These two guys didn't have any. I am not sure what the other guys excuse is. I mean he is a big guy too but come on. When is the last time you saw an actual fight on a UFC PPV where two fighters gassed that bad?

Rampage Jackson is a good fighter, but he is a shitty coach (he lost a shitload on the first season he coached too) and an even shittier match maker. Last week was a better example of a mismatch. This time around, I think it wasn't as much of a mismatch as it was a bad move. He knew Kimbo Slice was a target, if he really wanted him to succeed then he should have used his ability to pick the fight and put Kimbo up against one of their weaker fighters with no ground game. Now he is going to go up against the most experienced guy on the entire show in the former IFL heavyweight champ. Big Country Nelson.

To say I don't think Kimbo will win is an understatement. If Kimbo was going up against that dude Rampaged called "titties" or a couple of the other inexperienced guys I would say he may have a chance, but I think he is doomed. We will see! Anyone can get caught. Kimbo defiantly will have the better cardio of the two and that could make the difference.

One thing is for sure, a big dog got knocked out of the running today and it looks like next week will also be the end for one of the two biggest draws this season. That's why they showed the fight pick at the end of this show instead of the beginning of the next like they normally do. To build it but will ensure maximum ratings.

I know this season is different than the last couple in that its all one weight class and no one had to fight to get into the house but it doesn't seem like the format change stops there. They usually show more of them in the house, the fighters weighing in for the fight, Dana didn't attending the fight selection, etc.. One thing that really pisses me off is I DVR the show and watch it about a half after or so into it so I can skip commercials. They are doing some REALLY goofy shit and putting a 30 sec. clip of the show in the middle of the commercials. Anyone else notice this?? If you skip through it and go to the long segment, you miss out. So to not miss anything, I have to fast forward, stop, watch 30 sec clip, fast forward again through another commercial and then onto the next segment. Sounds petty, but that fucking sucks!!

One cool thing I dig is that on Mondays on Spike.com, they have a 10 minute or so show with the fighters from that previous episode and Amir doing interviews and answering fans e-mails about that fight. I will post a link in this thread when its up.

Thats it for this episode, what are your thoughts?
It is not the Death Rattle in the throat of Western civilization which is surprising: it is the fact that millions of Americans believe that the death rattle is a beautiful song!

I'm on my G1 which isn't the easiest for typing a ton so I'm gonna keep this one short.

Rampage is a shitty coach and match setter.

I think Kimbo might win this one, but I know dick about the big boy. I think cardio and hand speed may play to his favor from the big guy.

I have to put up with those dang mini clips on Top Chef too. They suck when fast forwarding thru a commercial.

This season is going to be full of guys gassing early.
    Downside of the heavyweights.

Gassing early is an understatement, that was unbelievable! Both fighters had their hands on their hips and were gasping for air, in the middle of the fight! I like Rampage, but he has no coaching skills, and is even worse at picking fights. He should have let Kimbo pick who he wanted to fight when he had the chance. I don't think he has much of a chance of beating Roy Nelson. It's almost like they're setting up Kimbo, to prove Dana White was right about him.

Rampage's running the team reminds me of Shamrock's in season 3, almost like they don't even know how the show works and put in very little strategic thought on how to approach it. And considering it's Ramapge's second go-round, well, it shows he hasn't learned anything. He could be the greatest coach in the world in terms of teaching fighters what they need, helping them make legit improvements in their game, but if he just picks matchups without thinking it through and his guys suffer in their fights because of it, then what's it really worth in the context of the show?

Agreed. When I was watching the first episode and saw that I thought my DVR had fucked up the recording somehow. I'm of the mind that I'll just skip whatever they try to stick in the commercials. I doubt it's going to be anything I can't live without seeing anyway.

That fight is exactly the reason I can't get into the UFC. Maybe I don't watch it enough, but for every good fight, I have to sit through ten like tonight.

Kimbo did make me laugh when he said, "I want to learn everything about Jujitsu and I don't even know how to spell Jujitsu."
I'm going to guess that all of your failures prior to the "revolution" will pale in comparison to how hard your life will be afterward. You will not rise to the occasion. If you can't succeed in a structured, ordered society, you will continue to fail miserably when winning friends and influencing people becomes vitally important.

Big Country was my pick to win the whole effing show when the "cast" was first announced. By all rights he should already be in the UFC or Strikeforce or DREAM. I think the only reason he's on TUF is so he can make a bigger name for himself and gain fans and recognition; only the real hardcore MMA fans really know who he is.

His fight with Kimbo certainly could have been more interesting, but I wasn't surprised by it in the least. Roy ain't no dummy, and if he did something like like getting KTFO'd, cut badly (like Abe Wagner on the first episode - jeez that was nasty), or breaking his hand punching Kimbo too hard on the top of his head, that'd be pretty freaking dumb. If he's going to make it to the finals, that's 2 more fights on the show, which makes 3 in a 6 week period. He played it safe, won, and advances to the quarterfinals in good condition.

As for Kimbo, I like the guy; I've never had any real reason to dislike him. His MMA carrer was basically manufactured by EliteXC based on hype and a shitload of promotion. Really, it was all EliteXC. Kimbo never claimed to be anything that he's not. After winning, and after losing, he was humble and appreciative to the fans. A lot of MMA fans hate Kimbo because he was headlining cards without having paid any real dues apart from millions of youtube hits. And perhaps they're right. But it was all EliteXC's promotion of him. They threw gobs of money at him, more than he'd ever make as a bodyguard for a pornographer, and he took it. Can't blame a guy for that...

I have really high hopes for TUF10. Although the UFC's heavyweight division is certinaly better off than it was a couple years ago, it's still pretty thin compared to the other weight classes. It's my hope that we get several good prospects and potential contenders out of TUF10 (even though a couple will probably drop to LHW after the show). And maybe in a year or so Fedor's StrikeForce contract will be up, and the UFC can finally snatch him up as well.

As for Rampage vs Rashad, I honestly don't care that they (probably) will never fight, what with Jackson's retirement and all. Grudge matches are usually fun to watch, but usually I hate one of them and want to see him get his ass kicked. I don't hate either one, but I'm not really a fan of either of them either. Rashad's ego kinda bugs me (although he's certainly more humble after getting KO'd by Machida), and although Rampage might have the greatest slam in MMA history, I don't really like his fighting style.

This was another lame fight! I know Kimbo wasn't defending himself, but those shots did no damage what so ever as well. I think Herb was forced to end it by Evans team counting off the strikes. I will admit, if he didn't, Kimbo probably would have sat there till the end of the round and it would have been a UD anyway, but this sucks. All that hype of a lame ass fight.

yes, fight sucked. Roy's punches looked so weak. I heard he still get's one guaranteed fight in the UFC after the show. maybe he will stay in the house and absorb all the free training he can like Dayna says he should.

Well lets see what happens tonight. Dana White admits the first three fights sucked!! He promises they get better, he just doesn't say if it starts tonight or not. They have had no house stuff at all. It's been mainly all Kimbo. Lets see how tonight goes, it looks like more Kimbo talk as Marcus Jones looks like he may have to drop out due to injury. That's how they preview looked anyway, we will see

I hope Rampage doesn't expect to have a career as a trainer/coach if his acting career doesn't work out. He was a lousy coach on Season 7, and he's looking even worse this season. Half of his team has lost already, whether it's because he made bad picks or because of his coaching, it doesn't matter, it's still his fault.

After last nights episode though, he doesn't just look like a bad coach, he looks like a narcissistic douchebag. Leaving his fighter by himself in the cage after losing is inexcusable. He doesn't realize that this show is about the fighters, not one-upping Rashad. He seems to worry more that he's losing the show, rather than the fighters on his team.

The more this season progresses, the less I care that Rashad and Rampage won't be fighting each other. I like Rampage less and less, but even better than seeing Rashad whoop his ass, Rampage will just fade away, never able to back up all his shit-talking. Reminds me of that Tito vs Dana boxing match that never happened.

I've been under impressed by these fighters since almost day one. The guys that went in and gassed should be pretty red faced. As for the most recent fight with Kimbo well that was pretty poor to.

This has been the least entertaining series yet for me. I was hoping for huge haymakers with guys getting knocked spark out every week. Fingers crossed for the next fight.
