I figured I would start this thread and use it to post about the show after each episode rather than starting a new weekly thread.
Episode 2:
Tonight had one of the worst fights on TUF in awhile. I guess it could have been worse if we had two wrestlers that utilize "Lay and Pray" . I can't remember too many fights where BOTH fighters stood there in the center of the ring with their hands down bent over resting for extended periods in the middle of the fight. There were a few times where they were throwing punches and for a second I thought they were trying to high five each other.
Take a look at that Wes dude. He is fucking HUGE. It's not like he is out of shape, he is very muscular and fit but it takes allot of oxygen to operate a big ass structure like that. It makes you wonder how biggens like Brock Lesnar can have such stamina. These two guys didn't have any. I am not sure what the other guys excuse is. I mean he is a big guy too but come on. When is the last time you saw an actual fight on a UFC PPV where two fighters gassed that bad?
Rampage Jackson is a good fighter, but he is a shitty coach (he lost a shitload on the first season he coached too) and an even shittier match maker. Last week was a better example of a mismatch. This time around, I think it wasn't as much of a mismatch as it was a bad move. He knew Kimbo Slice was a target, if he really wanted him to succeed then he should have used his ability to pick the fight and put Kimbo up against one of their weaker fighters with no ground game. Now he is going to go up against the most experienced guy on the entire show in the former IFL heavyweight champ. Big Country Nelson.
To say I don't think Kimbo will win is an understatement. If Kimbo was going up against that dude Rampaged called "titties" or a couple of the other inexperienced guys I would say he may have a chance, but I think he is doomed. We will see! Anyone can get caught. Kimbo defiantly will have the better cardio of the two and that could make the difference.
One thing is for sure, a big dog got knocked out of the running today and it looks like next week will also be the end for one of the two biggest draws this season. That's why they showed the fight pick at the end of this show instead of the beginning of the next like they normally do. To build it but will ensure maximum ratings.
I know this season is different than the last couple in that its all one weight class and no one had to fight to get into the house but it doesn't seem like the format change stops there. They usually show more of them in the house, the fighters weighing in for the fight, Dana didn't attending the fight selection, etc.. One thing that really pisses me off is I DVR the show and watch it about a half after or so into it so I can skip commercials. They are doing some REALLY goofy shit and putting a 30 sec. clip of the show in the middle of the commercials. Anyone else notice this?? If you skip through it and go to the long segment, you miss out. So to not miss anything, I have to fast forward, stop, watch 30 sec clip, fast forward again through another commercial and then onto the next segment. Sounds petty, but that fucking sucks!!
One cool thing I dig is that on Mondays on Spike.com, they have a 10 minute or so show with the fighters from that previous episode and Amir doing interviews and answering fans e-mails about that fight. I will post a link in this thread when its up.
Thats it for this episode, what are your thoughts?
