Noooooo..........................it was ghey for an SLCC....................EVERYONE was getting excited and outing themselves, because they thought they was getting a SLCC and people were turning up saying all kinds of strange stuff, like..........."what's a SLCC........put me down for one"..............and then the ZM thread came along and people started saying............."ZM...........ZM..........ZM... .........what's a ZM......... put me down for one.................where's my ZM................when is the ZM going to be ready...............how do I get on the list..................PM sent BRO............how long.............how wide..............what thickness...............can I get one with a nightmare grind..................handles made from the space shuttle heat shield would be sweeeeet or maybe made from the hip bone of one the 300.

I miss the Badlands, but I don't miss that, or most of the drama...

I think your recollection is pretty accurate.

I just wanted a user Fixed Blade Strider. No tiger stripes, no digi camo, no NM grind (although it is sweet) and most of all a low cost user.

I agree, in the beginning it was a cool, low drama and most of all interesting place to read up on knives, gear and some plain crazy Strider shit.

Badlands was the one of the first forums I joined and that was more than a year before I joined this one. In the end it was just plain sad. I admit I was oblivious to the fact that it needed support through auctions etc and I didn't look at those pages until it was too late. Some of the plank holders who used it as a "free speech" vehicle could have auctioned off some of their wares in support of their soap box.
