    Dalton M9

Canyou folks giveme your enlightened opinion(s) on the Dalton M9 S/A OTF? I know it's a big SOB, but I'mthinking of buying one to carry every day.

Bad idea. I wouldnt even consider it unless you plan on carrying it in a sheath or pouch. If it fires in your pocket on accident it will cut your leg off, theyre big and have a helluva spring in them. There are several more practical knives to carry. Might be difficult to find one too.

Thanks for the reply.I have bead on a used one.......I just can't decide. I've even been doing comparisons with the Makora II, but hear bad things about these MTs.

Big SA OTFs don't make the best EDC knives. Or any SA OTF for that matter.

    Just my opinion...

I had an M9, cool ass knife but I wouldnt carry it unless I planned on fighting a horde of ninjas riding dragons. Of all the knives I had, the M9 was the only one to make me a bit nervous when handling it. I always made a conscious effort to recognize which end the blade came out before pulling it out of the net. If you want to scare the living shit out of everyone around when you fire it, it will deliver. A Makora II would be better/safer, but in my opinion an Ultratech would be the best if you wanted an OTF user. You could also just grab the M9 for at home swordplay, and a nice UDT or similar side opener for daily use, they would hold up better than any OTF

Norcalflat...I am sooo mesmerized by the titty action in your sig. All i see when reading your posts is tits ,stroking actions and fluids running - I have the rare urge to wash dishes and scrub steak knives in a similar fashion. Thanx for that Norc.

Thanks for your input! I bought the M9, but I'm still leaning towards a Makora II when the funds replenish. Are there any quality concerns you know of on the Makora II?

I have only heard of one quality problem, and it was only on one knife. The carbon inserts had gaps in them. Many of the Makora IIs, even mine, were hard as hell to fire, very strong springs and tight tolerances, but it broke in and got easier after a while. I have heard the newer ones with the holes down the center of the blade are easier to fire.

yeah i had that crappy makora II. Cracks in the carbon fiber and some weird adhesive that according to microtech they dont use oozing out of the handle. That was the only one i ever heard of with a problem. I have one of the newer ones with the satin black blades and blue hardware and love it. Great knives even if they serve no other purpose but to have a ridiculously long auto.
