Thread: The newest member of our happy little family!

The newest member of our happy little family!

We have a new member to our family! Mackeson is about 10 weeks old now (I think) and we've had her for about a week. She's adorable, and a mouthy little kitten! (I LOVE mouthy cats) I thought I'd share some cutie pictures of her.

Mackie finding her favorite place to sit.

Mackie playing with her big sister on the cat condo.

Having a little snooze in my lap.

    Happy tucked into the blanket.

Deciding she wanted to go with Daddy on his latest trip.

I'd just emptied the garbage, and apparently she thought that meant she could get in my garbage can.

And her and Murphy sleeping together on my chair.

It's funny because I hadn't realized how big Murph actually was until we got Mackie.

Oh, and she loves sitting on the band saw when we're sitting out in the shop. No picture of that, though.

Even if I am a dog person and even if Gracie does totally own me, seeing pics like this makes me want a kitty. Alas, between having Gracie (who's never been exposed to kitties) and hella allergies means it's a nyet for me

And of course, gotta throw in the requisite "SO CUTE!!!"

Makes me want one too!! Cute little things, but my dogs don't like cats at all.

That will make a fine looking slipper! Why only one? It would have been nice to have two from the same litter so the slippers would match. How long till it fits your shoe size?

    Ok ok, im done :P

    It's a cutie!

I don't know if she would ever fit my shoe size... she's tiny for her age, and I've got some big ol' boat feet!

Thanks! She's currently on my lap now, trying to play with my hair... unfortunately, she tends to miss and grabs my boob with her paws... damn lesbian cat.

    Congrats on your new kitty.

That little tyke is the first calico tabby I've ever seen.

    Awwww... that's so cute!

It’s taken 9 different dogs and 65 long years to make
me the gentle, patient, mellow man that I am today.
Don’t be fuckin’with me and piss me the fuck off!

That's part of what caught my attention... I like unusual looking cats, have wanted a calico for a while (I've had two tortoiseshells and while they're fun, they're tempermental. ), and she was just unique looking... and boy, can she play!

Thanks, Gary! I don't know that I always find it cute.

beautiful. i'm partial to Norwegian Forest Cats meself, but Mackie is pretty pretty. so obviously full of life . . .

They are good cats... I can't handle long haired cats, though (if I could, I'd likely get a Maine Coon).

One more pic and then I'm done terrorizing y'all with them. heh I heard hissing in the kitchen so I went to investigate.. and immediately came back to get the camera. After a few pics and a lot of moving around and trying to get comfortable.. Murph was in the box first, and Mackie decided to join her... apparently Murph didn't care for that, but she finally gave in.

    Cute as could be!

How did you get the older cat to accept the new family member without wanting to kill it?

  13. #13
There really wasn't a trick... A lot of it was knowing that Murph was ok around other cats (a friend had brought over her young cat a few times), and not pushing them together, either. Letting the kitten know where things are and letting her wander but not unsupervised at first.

When we first got Murph, our other cat, Guin, was not pleased at all... she still hisses and swats at her from time to time.. but Guin had been raised with another cat, so we were pretty sure she wouldn't actually hurt another cat, either. I did make the mistake there of kind of 'pushing' Murph on Guin, and stopped when I realized it wasn't doing good. They occasionally get along, but there's never any actual real fights between them.

They are all females, too.. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.. and they're all spayed as well (Mackie just got spayed on Friday).

D'awww....such a sweet girl...she'll win Guin over someday. She doesn't know what she's missing!

Actually, Guin hisses at her less than she did with Murph at that age... and she watches intently when the other two play... we're just waiting for her to jump in someday and freak the kittens out. heh
