    Bleach "Antique" Finish

    Will doing it to a blade protect it from rust? Or will it still need to be kept oiled?

    Carbon steel always needs a lil tlc once in while,.. the bleach treatment /antiquing is just that, a finish, not a protectant.

    whatever product you prefer, renn wax, wd40, some good car wax,.. if its a looker not a user those will be all you need.
    A user you'll have to take a lil more care of(just more often really) but all should be fine.

    thats what I figured I was just wondering since the first step is blueing it and as far as I know(could be wrong) blueing steel prevents rust. I also went ahead and did it anyway before I got the answer but I"m not done. I'll post pics when I am

    yes even tho you blue it it will still need oil think of a gun that still needs oil
