We are at it again and the details are not finalized for all of it.
But round four is underway.
For you of the newer variety , this was started in 2005 when I was in Afghanistan , by one of the legends of the game , Bob Bartoli.
He put together a package of knives and sent them to me to distribute to troops I worked with.
When I got home , I tried to keep it alive by soliciting donations and providing some really special knives to special forces "A" teams in theater.
The runs I have been involved with were all of the same knife and laser etched with their unit logo and team number............and the world famous " don't make me cut you ".
This year , we are taking a bigger bite out of the pie.
We are doing a run of protech TR-2's that are in production now for a team that will be deploying in July.
This group is special to us because the Son of one of our members is their medic.
The other group is currently in country and working with one of my former colleagues.
I am working with Mike Stewart to provide them with Bravo 1's.
Mike has done the first two runs for us and the end results were solid home runs.
What we need to make this happen is money.
Money from you.
To donate for the first run , Tracy Mickley is set up on his web site to accept full payment for a knife.........to sponsor a knife as it were.
This is 165.00 each , and in these times , can be a bit heavy for many of us.
I do not have pricing on the Bravo's yet , and this deal is still a few weeks out.
But for those of you who would like to contribute , and cannot swing a full knife , I will make an opportunity for smaller dontaions available soon.
We will also have some extra knives , courtesy of Dave at protech , to raffle off and help fund this project.
They will be the same knives as the ones we send to the troops and will be not only very collectable , but plenty fucking cool.
We , as a group , have done some really magnificent things for our guys over there , and as much as I appreciate it , they appreciate it even more.
If I had contacts to assist the Canadian , British or other NATO troops over there , I'd try to get some swag for them too , but that just isn't in my wheelhouse.
But keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to help and be as generous as you can.
Thanks in advance and , as always , don't make me cut you.
