    Lightbulb Technical Bushcraft Sheath

    Happy New Year everybody!!!

I made a new model I’d like to hear your thoughts about..
The idea was to make a sheath that is completely modular and can be set-up differently each time for any specific task. The sheath had to be strong, safe, reliable, weather-resistant and easy to use and maintain in the field. It should fit all kinds accessories and attachements one could need or want for a variety of uses.

After some try-outs and prototypes I believe this one is good enough to show here.
I only have some crappy pics cause the lighting is dim and it’s freezing cold, but I will add more to my blog later on. It’ll give you the idea for now.

    This is the basic sheath:

It has a halftanned leather pouch and a removable kydex liner. There’s a drainage hole in the bottom of the sheath. In the bottom sits a Chicago screw that secure’s the kydex inside the pouch. On the side there’s a row of eyelets that will fit all kinds of accessories. The kydex is light coloured to make visual inspection easier, and to have a clear aimingpoint when resheathing the knife. The kydex is cut under an angle to have a larger opening for resheating, and to have something to pull on when removing the liner.

    Features in a row:
It can be set-up with a teklok in horizontal, vertical and canted positions.
It can be setup with a beltloop for high, med or low carry.

It will fit all pouches in the Maxpedition style ‘Single Pouch’ or custom made pouches.

It will attach to molle gear and it can be carried upside down on a chestrig.

It’s easy to attach a length of cord. There’s always a free hole.
It has a very slim profile

Firesteelloop can be mounted inside or outside the sheath profile.

It can be carried horizontal on the belt using the loops

One pouch could fit many liners for different knives.
As an example. One pouch could fit liners for the F-1, RC-4, Bravo-1, and all other knives that, a bit more or less, have the same profile and length.

    I hope you like it.
    Comments are very welcome..

    Happy New Year !!
    Martin

I like it alot Martin. Some people like a classic no gimmicks sheath but for me I like one sheath with many options. For example I like the bare bones option if I'm going to be packing t in my PSK or daypack but if I'm going to be wearing it I like being able to put the PSK on the knife. I've heard complaints or questions from people about why have a big bulky sheath with pouches and loops or why have a hollow handle on a knife when you can just put the suruval gadgets in your pack. I argue that if something bad goes down all you have to worry about is keeping the knife ie. if my canoe tips in rough water, I don't want to be scrambling to catch my gear, stay afloat and get to shore. As long as I keep my pants on (or at least my belt) I'll at least have fire, a knife and shelter. Anyway, enough rambling, and to sum things up I dig the sheath, the style and it's options. Cheers.
    Best Regards,
    Chris Lindey

looks like a well thought out and functional sheath system

When you can't run anymore, you crawl

if you can't crawl, you find somebody to carry you.

I dig it. I like the fact that extra gear can be put on that bad boy and I really like the firesteel loop pointing into the sheath rather than sticking out the side.

Very cool. Its not very often I see a leather sheath as versatile as yours. The leather gives it a classic look. While the function seems more like a kydex sheath.

Are you planning on producing these for sale?

Very interesting. I like it a lot. Modular and reconfigurable rules!

What's the white stuff inside part?

Thanks for the kind words guys.
    I'm glad you like it..

@ LostHighway.. I'll be making them on request. Shoot me a PM for info..

@ Jorge.. The lightcoloured kydex is meant to enhance visibility of the sheath entrance, but I gues it was a bad idea as most people don't like it
But you have the choice ofcourse.

    best,
    Martin

No, no, I like it, I like it just fine. I didn't know they make white Kydex. We only get black here. It's nice. I would make the same choice you did.

    Great sheath.
