For the money I've put into it I could've had the blades professionally heat treated several times over. I even sold my fracking ar15 to fund the construction of the damn thing.

I built it out of stuff I mostly found on ebay. It wasn't actually that hard to construct.

The reason the heating coils burned out was that I didn't give them enough room to expand when heated and they shorted out. I just need to buy more coils and rebuild the fracking thing with waaaaay more room for the coils to expand.

This video provided much of the useful information as well as the inspiration to try building my own furnace. It would hold within a degree or two of where you set it thanks to the controller and would've worked great if I wasn't a retard.

My personal mantra is " When in doubt , holler " FUCK ! "
It looks like the coils had plenty of room to me also..........were they closer in the corners ?
Can you tell where they touched ?
Fuckin bummer.
Could you go with solid coils like in a kitchen oven ?

Yeah, it was in the corners. I tried to give them extra room but apparently it wasn't enough. I'm going to try again but this time I'll cut more channels in the fire brick and really stretch the coils out even more.

If that doesn't work then I'll give it the Glock treatment.

I don't know if solid elements will work but it couldn't hurt to research it.
