    The Punisher Armory

So I was going through an old box of comics the other day and I stumble upon two Punisher comics I forgot I even had. The Punisher Armory volume 1 & 2. Has anyone ever seen these? If so do you know if they ever produced more than these two? Volume 1 came out in 1990 and Volume 2 came out in 1991.

I started flipping through the pages and it covers all types of different weapons that The Punisher used. There are pictures, descriptions, and stories about each weapon on every page. It really is a very cool comic. Page 1 of volume 1 starts off with a classic Uzi. Blowguns, pistols, sniper rifles, assault rifles, shotguns, and a whole mess of sub machine guns are covered. Even a robotic turret and the Punisher's Battle Van are covered. What really surprised me was that everything that is covered in the comic are actually real weapons. There wasn't one weapon that I couldn't find on the web.

So to get to the knives. Even though there aren't a whole lot of bladed weapons covered I was happy that there were some. A ballistic knife was in there and The Punisher explains that the spring is wicked strong and they are really hard to aim. Also covered was the Ka-Bar Marine Combat Knife, the Gerber Mark II, the SOG Seal, Kershaw's Military Boot Knife, SOG's SERE knife, AMK's Quicksilver, Spyderco's Hunter, Chris Reeve's Sable III, Moeller's Viper, and Becker Knives' Machax. Vietnamese Tomahawks and throwing stars were in there as well.

Anyone out there who is a fan of weaponry and a fan of comics should try and find these somewhere. They are very very cool and I highly recommend them.

Good stuff. I think it was the War Journal series that included a full-page bit of weaponry porn at the end of every book. This might have even been a compilation of stuff like that, for all I know.

I just watched the extended version of the Thomas Jayne Punisher film, which restores a small but important subplot that was cut from the cinema version in order to bring the running time down. It's such a very good movie. I'm disappointed Jayne's not doing the sequal (also called Punisher: War Journal, I believe) but I do have hopes for Ray Stevenson (who played Titus Pullo in HBO's Rome, and who did one of the most intelligent DVD commentaries for an episode of that series that I think I've ever heard).

It could suck, or it could be great. Stevenson's a great actor. Whether he can fake a convincing American accent remains to be seen, though, so it will come down to that and the plot.

The Jayne movie did such a good job of emphasizing the trajedy of Castle's life and his motivation therefrom that it will be a very hard act to follow, or to sustain.

I just scored a mint copy o one of the armory books. The Punisher series was excellent for using real guns and some real knives. The new Marvel Max
Punisher by garth Ennis is fantastic for having not only real weapons but in using them realistically. Gangsters taking cover behind a couch while Frank is using the old school M-60 are SOL. The ones that flee run into a Claymore.

Taliban have 7.62.39 AK's but Spetznaz have 5.45. Little details but it is appreciated by those of us into these things.

Definitely check out the MAX(adults only) Punisher. Next issue he is going after a HUGE meth lab on the border that kidnaps workers and mutilates the bodies so people can't tell they died from chemical burns. Garth Ennis also does some very good real war history comics called "WAR STORIES" and one of my favourite comics about an old Spetznaz soldier going native with my personal favourite rifle the classic SMLE .303.

Ditto, very cool Punisher arsenal review. Even though it was just comics they did their research on what is included in the books.

Yeah I looked high and low and have only been able to dig up Volume 4. I'd still like 3 and 5-10. Good news is that I was able to complete my Wolverine collection as I was looking for the Armory comics. Thanks for the info guys. And UnSub I'm definitely going to be checking out the ones you've mentioned due to the fact that they sound like they would be a great read. Thanks again.

    Unsub,
I saw that 303 in the store. When I went back, the bastards had sold out. I'll have to get it on-line one of these days.
